Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team got off to a fast start with hot shooting in the first half as they avenged an early season loss to UW-Platteville on Wednesday night.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN
- With the two teams tied at three early on, UWL went on a 14-4 run to lead 17-7 with 1:48 left in the first quarter. Molly Janke scored seven points to help spark the Eagles run. Malia Nelson would hit a jumper with :08 remaining in the quarter as UWL led 19-9.
- A Lauryn Milne three-pointer and layup would give UWL a 24-11 lead with 8:38 on the clock in the second quarter. Seven straight points by the Pioneers would cut the Eagles lead to 24-18 (6:38). UWL then outscored UW-Platteville 17-3 to take its largest lead of the first half at 41-21 which was the score at halftime. Lindsey Knuth would score five straight points during the run for the Eagles.
- Early in the second quarter, UWL would extend their lead to 45-23 (8:42) but UW-Platteville would cut it to 48-31 by scoring eight of the next 11 points. Emma Jossie would then hit a layup and a three-pointer on back-to-back possessions to give UWL its largest lead of the game at 53-31 (4:52). The Pioneers would put the pressure on UWL over the final 4:52 of the third quarter as they went on a 16-4 run to cut their deficit to 57-47 at the end of the third quarter.
- Trailing 63-49 in the fourth quarter, UW-Platteville got back-to-back three pointers from Brynlee Nelson and Ashley Weir to trail 65-55 with 6:17 left in the game. Katie Waukau would hit a three-pointer followed by a free throw and a layup by Madisyn Kilboten to give UWL a 71-57 lead with 3:58 remaining. The Pioneers had one last run left in them as the scored six straight to pull with in 71-63 (2:36) but that would be as close as they would get.

- As a team, the Eagles finished 29-of-59 (49.2%) from the floor including eight-of-20 (40%) from the three-point line. UWL was also nine-of-15 (60%) from the free throw line.
- Milne led the way for the eagles with a team high 16 points while Janke came off the bench to score 13 points.
- All 10 Eagles that played tonight scored at least five points.
- Knuth and Ali Sprangers each had a team high seven rebounds to help the Eagles finish with a 42-39 advantage on the boards.
- UW-Platteville finished the night shooting 26-of-73 (35.6%) from the floor including nine-of-24 (37.5%) from the three-point line. The Pioneers were also four-of-seven from the free throw line.
- Ella Mackiewicz led the Pioneers with 19 points while Weir came off the bench to score nine points.
