La Crosse, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Men's Track and Field team hosted the the Caged Eagle Invitational Friday afternoon.

THE BASICS

Results: UWL won the meet with a team score of 236.50 while UW-Stout was second with 73 points. Rounding out the top five was Wartburg College in third (57 points), UW-Eau Claire in fourth (56 points) and UW-Whitewater in fifth (53 points).

Up next: The Eagles will travel to Stevens Point, WI to compete in the WIAC Indoor Championships starting next Friday, February 28, and concluding Saturday, March 1.

THE RESULTS

FIELD EVENTS

Pole Vault – UWL had five of the top six spots in the pole vault, with Connor Boyle placing second with a vault of 16-02. Andrew Tumminaro placed third (15-06 1/4), Alex Wagner fourth (15-06 1/4), and Ashton Moody and Caleb Moore tied for fifth with a vault of 15-0 1/4.
Long Jump – The Eagles secured three of the top four spots in the long jump led by Sebastian Jefferson placing first with a jump of 23-08. Andrew Hermes finished second (23-0) and Carter Pearson fourth (22-09 1/4).
Triple Jump – Three of the top five spots were Eagles in the triple jump, with Christian Crumbaker placing first with a jump of 46-11 1/2. Gabe Olsen placed second (46-02) while Gavin Sargeant placed fifth (45-03 1/2).
Shot Put – UWL had two of the top five finishers, with Ben Youngworth placing fourth with a throw of 51-07 1/4 and Jake Gardner placing fifth with a throw of 48-10 1/4.
Weight Throw – Two of the top four places in the weight throw were Eagles with Logan Powers finishing second with a throw of 58-04 1/2 and Spencer Prats finishing fourth (56-11 1/4).
High Jump – Nathan Andringa won the high jump with a mark of 6-07 1/2, breaking his own meet record which was 6-07.

TRACK EVENTS

60-meter hurdles – Aaron Poelma was the lone Eagle to place in the 60-meter hurdles as he was fifth with a time of 8.34.
60-meter dash – The Eagles claimed two of the top four spots in the 60-meter dash, highlighted by Ryder Smith taking first with a time of 6.86 and Evan Maurud placing fourth with a time of 6.93.
200-meter – UWL had three of the top five spots in the 200-meter run led by Collin Conzemius who finished first with a meet record time of 21.90. Evan Maurud was fourth (22.03) while Luke Vance placed fifth (22.14).
Mile – Three of the top four finishers in the mile were Eagles with Joey Sullivan achieving a meet record time of 4:11.32 to win the event. In second place was Adam Loenser with a time of 4:12.29 while Christopher Wolfe placed fourth with a time of 4:16.67.
800-meter – Jayden Sayles placed third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.33 while teammate Owen Klaus was fifth with a time of 1:57.71.
Distance Medley - The relay team of Jayden Zywicki, Dirk Lueck, Cael Schoemann, and Grant Matthai broke the school record in the DMR with a time of 9:47.29. It breaks the record of 9:50.64 by Parker Heintz, Addison Hill, Schoemann and Michael Madoch in 2024.
400-meter – UWL had the top five finishers in the 400-meter run with Chase Doornink finishing first with a time of 48.48. Andrew Hackbarth finished second (48.71), Jacob Hohman third (49.02), Tyler Backes fourth (49.23), and Dirk Lueck fifth (49.23).
3000-meter – Corey Fairchild won the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:32.12.
