Brown Deer, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team remains in first-place after the second day of competition at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships (presented by Culver's) Thursday night at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center.
The Eagles have 355 team points after two days while UW-Eau Claire is second-place with 295. UW-Stevens Point is third (193) with UW-Oshkosh fourth (148) and UW-Whitewater fifth (121).
Preliminaries were not held Thursday due to a power outage.
UWL's
Zoey Rank captured the 200 I.M. title on Thursday night with a time of 2:05.54. It is the first league title for the Eagles in the event since
Lauren Steien won her second straight in 2023.
Jordy Hahlen, Rank,
Natalie Austin and
Libby Cleveland captured the 400 medley relay Thursday with a UWL record time of 3:47.25. The relay broke the school record of 3:48.97 set by Chelsea Hoff, Brianna Peyer, Danielle Ellingson and Katelyn Hartung set in 2009.
The Eagles also broke the WIAC meet record time of 3:48.18 by UW-Eau Claire set in 2017.
It UWL's first league crown since 2022 when Hahlen, Steien,
Maddy Albert-Nelson and Aubrey Lonergan won the title.
In other individual results on Thursday, UWL had four of the top-seven finishers in the 200 I.M. Along with Rank's first-place finish,
Autumn Seebach was third (2:09.84),
Emily Schoenbrodt fourth (2:10.64) and Hahlen seventh (2:13.27) .
The Eagles'
Ava Pulvermacher placed fourth (5:09.86) in the 500 freestyle on Thursday with
Amelia Olson sixth (5:15.46).
UWL had four of the top-nine finishers in the 50 freestyle.
Callie Klepp placed third (24.17), Cleveland fourth (24.27), Mikayla Knafla fifth (24.32) and
Lily Rosenau tied for eighth (24.52).
