Brown Deer, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team leads after the first day of competition at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships (presented by Culver's) Wednesday night at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center.
The Eagles have 165 team points with UW-Eau Claire second with 95. UW-Stevens Point is third (82) followed by UW-Oshkosh (81) and UW-Whitewater (60).
Joanne Banaszak captured the three-meter diving title for the second straight season on Wednesday with 458.70 points.
Hannah Martini was second (458.10) Wednesday while
Madeline Weber was third (426.55),
Madison DeBernardo fourth (407.75),
Abbey Thornton seventh (396.25) and
Eden Mortensen eighth (371.10).
UWL captured the 200 medley relay (1:43.60) for the sixth straight year on Wednesday with
Jordy Hahlen,
Zoey Rank,
Natalie Austin and
Libby Cleveland. It is the fourth consecutive season Hahlen has been on the winning relay and second straight for Cleveland.
The Eagles' 800 freestyle relay of
Ava Pulvermacher,
Emily Schoenbrodt,
Reilly Eiynck and
Autumn Seebach placed second (7:38.99) on Wednesday.
