Whitewater, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track and field team captured the two-day UW-Whitewater Squig Converse Invitational Saturday night. The Eagles took the team title with 161.0 points with UW-Whitewater second with 109.5 and Elmhurst College (Ill.) third with 79.5. A total of 11 teams competed.
UWL won three individual titles. The Eagles'
Alexys Scheuerell captured the pentathlon (3,417 points) while
Samantha Barrett won the triple jump (38-9 3/4) and Madilyn Vander Sander the shot put (43-6 1/2).
Amber Grosse was second (3,330),
Audrey Braun fourth (3,148),
Noelle Hackenmueller fifth (3,104), and
Allison Anderson sixth (3,093) in the pentathlon.
Other top-six finishers on the track included Julie Yang fifth (7.86) in the 60-meter dash. Olivia Navin was second (9.07),
Brie Eckerman fourth (9.17),
Andie Otto fifth (9.25), and
Megan Zemke sixth (9.33) in the 60-meter hurdles.
Sarah Grubbs was third (59.80),
Gretchen McNeal fifth (1:00.42), and
Madison Hecker sixth (1:00.80) in the 400-meter dash.
Macy Reybrock finished second (2:19.34) in the 800-meter run while
Kylie Stockton was fourth (5:22.99) in the mile run.
In Saturday's field events, the Eagles'
Izzy Bender was fifth in the high jump (5-1 3/4) with
Jenna Miller second (18-5 1/4),
Maya Evans third (18-3 1/4) in the long jump.
Rachel Halverson and
Josie Blum tied for fifth (17-10 1/4) in the long jump.
In the pole vault,
Madison Habberstad placed third (12-4),
Araceli De Leo Lopez fourth (12-4),
Emily Shafron fifth (11-10) and
Marisa Harvey sixth (11-4 1/4).
Addy Moseler finished second (41-8 3/4) and
Lydia Delene fifth (39-3 1/4) in the shot put.
Ashley Davies was fourth (36-10 1/4) and
Mackenzey Kronberg fifth (36-5) in the triple jump while
Ella Puls finished fourth (50-2 1/2) in the weight throw.
UWL returns to action Saturday, February 8 hosting the Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational at 2 p.m.
