Men's Track and Field Competes at Squig Converse Invite; Eagles Finish Third

Whitewater, Wis.
 - Members of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Men's Track and Field team competed at the Squig Converse Invitational hosted by UW-Whitewater Friday and Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS
  • Results: Winning the team title was UW-Whitewater with 154 points while North Central College (Ill.) was second (112 points) and UW-La Crosse finished third (87.5) points. Rounding out the top five teams was UW-Stevens Point in fourth place (54 points) and Augustana College (Ill.) in fifth (47 points). A total of 12 teams were represented at the two day meet.  
  • Location: Kachel Fieldhouse, Whitewater, Wis. 
  • Up next: The Eagles will return home on Saturday, February 8 for the Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational. Action is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.

FIELD EVENTS
  • High Jump - Mitchell Eldredge finished second with a jump of 6-6.
  • Pole Vault - Andrew Tumminaro led four Eagles in the top six in the pole vault with his second place mark of 15-6 1/2. Alex Wagner finished fourth (15-0 3/4) while Jonathon Zell and Caleb Moore tied for sixth (15-0 3/4).
  • Long Jump - Triton Schmidt finished fourth (22-3).
  • Triple Jump - UWL top of the top five finishers in the triple jump with William Cady finishing third (46-02 3/4) while Christian Crumbaker was fifth (46-0).
  • Shot Put - Jake Gardner had the fifth (47-11 3/4) best throw in the shot put.
  • Weight Throw - Logan Powers was the Eagles top finisher in the weight throw as he recorded a mark of 56-11 1/2.

    TRACK EVENTS 
  • 60-meter hurdles - Finn Patenaude was the top UWL finisher in the 60-meter hurdles as he ran a time of 8.48 to finish third.
  • 60-meter dash - Evan Maurud ran the fourth fastest time of the day in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.93.
  • 200-meter - Timothy Bailey was the lone Eagle to compete in the 200 meters as he finished eighth with a time of 22.84.
  • Heptathalon - UWL had the top two finishers in the heptathlon as Bryant Yanke finished first with 4593 points while Joseph Jensen finished second with 4457 points.
