La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team, ranked third in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Top 25 Dual Poll, improved to 9-0 on the season with a 46-5 victory over Aurora University (Ill.) Friday night in Aquinas High School.
The Spartans drop to 2-5.

UWL now leads the all-time series, 2-0, with Aurora (Ill.). The Eagles earned a 43-0 victory over the Spartans last season.
The 9-0 dual start is the best for UWL since winning its first nine in 2022-23.
The Eagles earned eight bonus point victories on Friday, picking up three wins by fall and five by technical fall in the dual.
Grant Madl opened the dual with a fall (4:26) over Zane Ely at 125-pounds to give UWL a 6-0 lead. The Eagles'
Wyatt Magolski followed with a technical fall (19-2, 6:34) at 133-pounds over Tyler Evitts to make it 11-0.
UWL's
Talan Schutte, ranked 12th in the NWCA, extended the lead to 14-0 at 141-pounds after a decision (9-4) over Kalani Khiev.
Joe Penchi gave UWL a 19-0 lead at 149-pounds with a technical fall (18-0, 3:37) over Alex Gochis. Penchi, a La Crosse Aquinas graduate, is currently ranked 14th in the country.
Aurora (Ill.) scored its only points of the dual at 157-pounds with 14th-ranked Cameron Johnson winning by technical fall (17-1, 3:29) over UWL's
Kolt Knaack.
Tate Flege
Tanner Gerber,
Noah Leisgang and
Tate Flege followed with three straight wins by technical fall. Gerber, ranked fourth at 165-pounds, defeated Clayton McKee (17-1, 1:12) and Leisgang earned the victory over Jack Seacrist at 174-pounds (19-3, 5:55). Third-ranked at 184-pounds, Flege defeated Alton Mullinax (16-0, 5:00). Flege is also an La Crosse Aquinas graduate.
The Eagles concluded the duals with back-to-back falls.
Tyler Dormanen, ranked ninth at 197-pounds, won by fall (1:58) over Oscar Antonio while
Markos Mihalopoulos, ranked 11th at 285-pounds, earned the win by fall (6:39) over Elijah Osit.
UWL returns to action Saturday, January 3 at the Central College (Iowa) Invite.
