La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team opened its Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual season with a 183.5 to 116.5 victory over UW-Eau Claire Saturday afternoon in the
Richard Pein Natatorium in Mitchell Hall.
UWL swept both relays on Saturday with
Shefali Ramakrishnan,
Zoey Rank,
Greta Wiskus and
Libby Cleveland winning the 200 medley relay (1:49.30) and Wiskus,
Paige Rundahl, Cleveland and
Ava Pulvermacher the 400 freestyle relay (3:40.86).Â

Joanne Banaszak captured the one-meter diving (246.15 points) title and
Hannah Martini the three-meter (254.85). Banaszak was second in the three-meter (237.65) and Martini second in the one-meter (241.45).
Emma Lieb placed third in the one-meter (215.35) and
Madeline Weber third in the three-meter (226.70).
The Eagles won seven individual swimming titles on Saturday. Wiskus won the 50 freestyle (24.65) and Pulvermacher the 200 freestyle (2:01.28) while Ramakrishnan took the 100 butterfly (59.64) and Rundahl the 200 backstroke (2:13.56).
Makenzie Wallace captured the 200 breaststroke (2:34.43).
Rank won a pair of events, including the 100 breaststroke (1:09.47) and 200 I.M. (2:16.64). She was also second in the 200 backstroke (2:13.57).
Ellie Brown was second (25.21) and
Hannah Wadholm third (25.38) in the 50 freestyle while Wiskus placed third (54.98) in the 100 freestyle.
McKenna Biegler placed second (5:26.66) and Amanda Hyland third (5:27.28) in the 500 freestyle with Hyland also finishing second (11:05.90) and Biegler third (11:22.04) in the 1,000 freestyle.
Rundahl finished second (1:01.92) and Mikayla Knaffla third (1:02.21) in the 100 backstroke for the Eagles. Wallace was third (1:10.09) in the 100 breaststroke and
Lily Rosenau second (2:35.36) in the 200 breaststroke.
Ella Stadler finished second (2:18.52) and Pulvermacher third (2:18.57) in the 200 I.M. while
Abby Gierke placed third (2:20.61) in the 200 butterfly.
UWL returns to action Saturday, November 8 hosting The College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) and Saint John's University (Minn.) with diving starting at 9 a.m. and swimming at 1:30 p.m.
