La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin La Crosse volleyball team returned to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on Wednesday night and once again faced a nationally ranked opponent as they fell to #3 ranked UW-Oshkosh 3-0 on Wednesday night.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN
- After an assisted block by Maddy Wilson and Kayla Sexton cut the Eagles deficit to 10-8, the Titans went on an 8-2 run to take an 18-10 lead. UWL would not get any closer than seven (19-11) the rest of the first set as UW-Oshkosh won 25-13. UWL was limited to just seven kills in the first set and hit .077 while UW-Oshkosh finished with 16 kills and a .519 hitting percentage.
- The Titans would get off to a fast start in the second set as they built an early 12-4 lead. Back-to-back kills from Sexton and Grace Turlais followed by a Sexton service ace and an assisted block by Grace Nommensen and Bella Kottke would cut the Titans lead to 12-8. A kill by Megan Jasperson would pull the Eagles to within 16-14 but the Titans would score six of the next seven points to extend their lead to 22-15. Turlais and Kottke would team up for a block to make it 23-17 but the Titans would get back-to-back kills from Lauren Grier and Clare McEniry to give UW-Oshkosh a 25-17 win in set two.
- UWL took an early 4-2 lead in the third set on an assisted block and a kill before UW-Oshkosh scored six straight to take an 8-4 lead. After a kill by the Eagles Reese Yocum made it 17-11, UW-Oshkosh scored eight of the final nine points to win the third set 25-12.
FROM THE BOX SCORE
- Nommensen led the Eagles with seven kills while Sexton finished with five.
- Kailyn Kurth and Megan Lund each finished with 10 assists for the Eagles.
- Taylor Larson led the Eagles defense with 10 digs.
- As a team, UWL was limited to a .093 hitting percentage while UW-Oshkosh finished hitting .440.
- Samantha Perlberg led the Titans with 16 kills while Grier added 12.
