HOW DID IT HAPPEN
  • UWL wasted no time taking control in the first set as they scored seven of the first nine points to force a UW-Whitewater timeout. After the Warhawks cut their deficit to 8-6, the Eagles scored nine unanswered to lead 15-6 at the technical timeout. Three straight kills by Maddy Wilson and two service aces from Annie Werner sparked the run. UW-Whitewater would not get any closer than seven (19-12) as UWl scored five of the final nine points to win set one 25-16.
  • Set two started very similar to set one as UWL scored the first four points and 11 of the first 13 points to lead 11-2. The Warhawks would slowly chip away at the Eagles lead and pull to within 16-12 but consecutive kills by Charley Casey, Grace Turlais and Werner put UWL up 19-12. UWL would go on to take set two 25-16.
  • UW-Whitewater would start better in set three as they built an early 9-6 lead. A Wilson kill brought the Eagles to within 12-10 but the Warhawks scored three of the next four points to lead 15-11. Four straight hitting errors by the Warhawks would tie set three 18-18. After Dehnicke's kill cut the Warhawks lead to 22-20, UW-Whitewater got two kills by Gaby DiMotto and one from Abbie Dix to seal the set three win 25-20.
