Eagles Drop Non-conference Match To Greenville University

Whitewater, Wis.  - The University of Wisconsin La Crosse volleyball team dropped a non-conference match Saturday afternoon to Greenville University (Ill.) 3-1. 
 
THE BASICS 
Final Score:
  Greenville University (Ill.) defeated UW-La Crosse 18-25, 25-22, 25-13, 25-17
Location: Kris Russell Volleyball Arena, Whitewater, Wis.
Records: UWL 16-10, Greenville University (Ill.) 15-8

HOW DID IT HAPPEN
  • The Eagles got off to a hot start as they outscored the Panthers 10-3 to start the first set. The Panthers would cut their deficit to 13-8 before the Eagles scored three straight to take a 16-8 lead. Greenville would pull within 20-16 as they went on a 8-4 run. UWL would score five of the final seven points to take the first set 2018. 
  • After UWL took an early 7-4 lead in the second set, Greenville went on a 10-2 run to make it 14-9. Three straight points by the Eagles would cut their deficit to 16-14 before the Panthers would score four straight to take a 20-14 lead. UWL would make a final run to pull with in 21-20 but that would be as close as they would get as Greenville took set two 25-22.
  • Greenville jumped out to a 14-4 lead in the third set and never trail. The Eagles would not get closer than 10 the rest of the way as the Panthers won the third set 25-13. 
  • With UWL leading 5-4 in the fourth set, Greenville went on a 6-0 run to take a 10-5 lead. After UWL cut their deficit to 12-9, Greenville quickly extended their lead to 18-9 with another 6-0 run. UWL could not get closer than 22-15 as Greenville won the fourth set 25-17.

  • UWL will return to WIsconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) action on Tuesday, October 21 when they host UW-River Falls. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
