USTFCCCA Release
New Orleans, La. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's and men's cross country teams have been named to the list of the 2024 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Scholar Teams. UWL's women's squad compiled a 3.528 grade point average while the men's team recorded a 3.308 cumulative grade point average.
It marks the 19th time in the last 20 years the UWL women's team has earned the USTFCCCA Scholar Team Award while the Eagles' men's squad earned the honor for the 14th time in the last 15 seasons.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.10 or higher on a 4.00 scale.

Five UWL student-athletes were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Women's Team, including
Katelyn Chadwick (recreational therapy major),Â
Lucy Duchac (English and political science),
Gwen Hinz (English: Writing and Rhetoric),Â
Madelynn McIntyre (physical, adapted, and school health education) andÂ
Mallory Reiser (early childhood education). It is the fourth straight honor for Chadwick and second consecutive for McIntyre. Â
UWL's men's squad was named the 2024 USTFCCCAÂ National Scholar Team of the Year. It marks the first time in school history UWL has earned the award.Â
The Eagles'
Grant Matthai (statistics) was selected the 2024 USTFCCCA Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year. It is the first time in school history a UWL student-athlete earned the award. Matthai is the first student-athlete from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) to be named the USTFCCCA Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Year since 2017.Â

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.30 or higher on a 4.00 scale and must have finished among the top-25 percent of finishers at their respective regional championships.
