Stevens Point, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team captured the UW-Stevens Point Invitational Saturday night in the UWSP Aquatics Center.
The Eagles took the title with 1,371.5 team points with Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) second with 929.0 and UW-Stevens Point third with 610.0. Hamline University (Minn.) placed fourth (202.5) and UW-Eau Claire fifth (51.0).
UWL won four individual titles on Saturday, including
Joanne Banaszak in the one-meter diving competition (428.05 points).
Natalie Austin captured the 100 butterfly (1:00.40),
Zoey Rank the 100 breaststroke (1:09.42) and
Jordy Hahlen the 200 backstroke (2:11.80).
The Eagles' 200 medley relay of Hahlen,
Callie Klepp, Austin and
Libby Cleveland took first (1:50.26) while Mikayla Knaffla,
Reilly Eiynck,
Paige Rundahl and Cleveland were third (3:45.07).
Other top-six individual finishes included
Hannah Martini second (402.05) and
Madeline Weber third (384.50) in the one-meter diving competition.
Cleveland placed third (25.22), Klepp fourth (25.35) and
Ellie Brown fifth (25.47) in the 50 freestyle while Eiynck was third (2:03.87), Rundahl fourth (2:03.89) and
Amelia Olson sixth (2:06.69) in the 200 freestyle.
In the 100 butterfly,
Emily Schoenbrodt finished second (1:01.61),
Maddy Albert-Nelson third (1:01.98) and
Shefali Ramakrishnan tied for fourth (1:02.24). Klepp was second (1:10.28), Austin third (1:10.84),
Makenzie Wallace fourth (1:10.87) and
Brooke Laube fifth (1:12.05) in the 100 breaststroke.
Autumn Seebach finished second (2:13.37), Knaffla third (2:13.84), Rundahl fourth (2:14.06) and
Sofia Badillo sixth (2:16.60) in the 200 backstroke while Rank was second (4:49.28), Seebach third (4:50.14),
Ava Pulvermacher fourth (4:54.70) and Wallace fifth (4:58.55) in the 400 I.M.
UWL returns to action Saturday, February 1 with a dual at UW-Stevens Point at 1 p.m.
