Women's Basketball Falls To Nationally Ranked UW-Oshkosh; Milne Joins 1,000 Point Club

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team found themselves facing another nationally ranked opponent and they came up short again as they fell to #4 UW-Oshkosh.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN
  • Lauryn Milne got the scoring going first for the Eagles as she hit a three-pointer on the first possession of the game. UWL would take a 10-6 lead on a three-pointer by Lindsey Knuth before UW-Oshkosh scored six straight to take a 12-10 lead with 3:47 left in the first quarter. A three-pointer by Ali Sprangers would put UWL up 15-12 but Paige Seckar would tie the game for the Titans at 15 as the first quarter came to an end with the score tied.
  • Trailing 19-18 (6:13), Sprangers hit a three-pointer to put the Eagles up 21-19. UW-Oshkosh then closed the quarter on an 11-2 run to lead 32-23 at halftime.
  • In the third quarter, UWL would cut their deficit to 35-27 on a jumper by Milne with 7:41 left. The Titans would then score the next eight points to extend its lead to 43-27 with 2:21 left. Trailing 48-32, the Eagles would hit back-to-back three-pointers from Kailee Meeker and Grace Knupp to cut their deficit to 48-38 at the end of the third quarter.
  • A three-pointer from Sprangers to start the fourth quarter would continue the Eagles run and make it 48-41. UW-Oshkosh quickly scored 11 points to take a 59-43 lead and UWL would not get any closer than 13 (61-48) the rest of the way.

FROM THE BOX SCORE
  • As a team, the Eagles finished 18-of-52 (34.6%) from the floor including nine-of-15 (60%) from the three-point line. UWL was also five-of-six (83.3%) from the free throw line.
  • Milne led the Eagles with 17 points while Sprangers added 11. Needing 12 points to surpass the 1,000 point mark for her career, Milne became just the 18th player in school history to reach the milestone.
  • Sprangers also led the Eagles with five rebounds.
  • UW-Oshkosh shot 26-of-56 (46.4%) from the floor including six-of-21 (28.6%) from the free throw line. The Titans also finished 10-of-12 (83.3%) from the free throw line. 
  • Seckar came off the bench for the Titans to lead them in scoring and rebounding as she finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
