Eagles Win WIAC Title; Claims 32 in Last 33 Years; Captures Seven Events on Second Day

Platteville, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team captured the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Championship (presented by Culver's) Saturday afternoon. It is the Eagles league record 58^th conference title in program history and 32nd in 33 years.

THE BASICS

Team Results: UWL won with 236 points while UW-Oshkosh was second with 166 points. In third place was UW-Eau CLaire with 120.5 points while UW-Whitewater finished fourth (102 points), UW-Stout fifth (65 points), UW-Platteville sixth (53 points), UW-Stevens Point seventh (51 points) and UW-River Falls eighth (22.5).

Larry Zirgibel All-Sportsmanship Team: Michael Madoch was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Up next: Prior to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Outdoor Championship May 23-24, UWL will have individuals compete at either the UWL Eagle Open on May 10 or the Augustana College Qualifier on May 16.

FIELD EVENTS

Triple Jump - Nathan Andringa finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of 6-5 1/4.
High Jump - Three Eagles scored in the triple jump led by William Cady who finished second with a jump of 49-5 1/4. Also scoring was Carter Pearson in fifth (47-2 1/40 and Nick Crary (46-6 3/4).
Shot Put - Ben Youngworth finished fifth (51-9 1/4) in the shot put while Ethan Welch was eighth (49-9 3/4).

TRACK EVENTS

110 Hurdles - Luke Schroeder won the first WIAC Individual Championship of the day for the Eagles as won the 110 hurdles in a time of 14.21. Also scoring for the Eagles was Lukas Johnson in fifth (14.74) and Chad Thompson Jr. in seventh (14.89).
400-meter run - UWL took home the top four finishers in the 400-meter run including champion Collin Conzemius (47.21). In second place was Chase Doornink (47.34), third place Caden Pearce (47.86) and fourth place (47.93). Jacob Hohmann finished seventh (48.42).
100-meter Dash - Sam Blaskowski won a title in the 100-meter dash with WIAC Conference Meet record time of 10.04.
800-meter Run - Three Eagles scored in the 800-meter run with Cael Schoemann winning the event in a time of 1:51. 88. Finishing fifth was Madoch (1:53.62) while Parker Heintz was seventh(1:55.62).
1500-meter Run - Two Eagles finished in the top five of the 1500-meter run with Madoch finishing third (3:46.40) and Aidan Manning fifth (3:50.32).
400 Hurdles - In the 400 Hurdles, Dirk Lueck took home a WIAC Championship in a time of 52.86. Payton Flood also scored for the Eagles by finishing sixth (55.73).
5000-meter Run - The final WIAC Individual Championship of the day for the Eagles belong to Joey Sullivan (14:37.13) in the 5000-meter run. Mason Brown finished sixth for the Eagles with a time of 14:56.37).
4x100 meter relay - The 4x100 relay team of Blaskowski, Paul Lough, Spencer Reichart and Ethan Turbeville was third with a time of 40.70.
4x400 meter relay - The 4x400 relaty team of Flood, Andrew Hackbarth, Addison Hill and Pearce won a championship with a time of 3:12.71. Which is the fatest time ran so far this season in the WIAC.
