Eagles in First After Day 1 of WIAC Outdoor Championships; Tumminaro Wins Individual Title

Results

Platteville, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Men's Track and Field team completed day one of the 2024 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Championships (presented by Culver's) which included the Eagles winning one individual championship.

THE BASICS

Team Results: UWL leads the team standings with 73.5 points while UW-Eau Claire is in second with 34.75 points. In third place is UW-Whitewater with 28 points followed by UW-Oshkosh (26 points), UW-Stout (21.75), UW-River Falls (seven points) and UW-Stevens Point (four points).
Location: UW-Platteville Track and Field Complex, Platteville Wis.
Up next: Day two of the WIAC Outdoor Championships will start at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.

THE RESULTS

FIELD EVENTS

Pole Vault - UWL had three of the top four finishers in the pole vault with Andrew Tumminaro winning a conference championship with a mark of 16-4 1/2. Finishing second was Ashton Moody (15-6 1/2) while Gaven Lange was fourth (15-6 1/2).
Javelin - Nate Lawrence (159-11) earned a spot on the podium with an eighth place finish in the javelin.
Long Jump - UWL had five jumpers score in the long jump. Sebastian Jefferson finished third (23-9 1/2) while Andrew Hermes was fourth (23-9 1/2), Carter Pearson fifth (23-6 1/2), Nick Crary sixth (23-4 1/4) and Triton Schmidt eighth (23-0).
Hammer Throw - Aiden Williams finished third in the hammer throw with a mark of 185-11. Also scoring for the Eagles in the hammer throw was Logan Powers in fifth (178-4) and Douglas Grace in sixth (177-0).

TRACK EVENTS

3000-meter steeplechase - Four Eagles scored in the 3000-meter steeplechase with Adam Loenser (8:59.63) finishing second, Mason Brown (9:06.79) third, Elias Ritzke (9:12.76) sixth and Jayden Zywicki (9:15.24) eighth.
110 Hurdles Prelims - Luke Schroeder, Lukas Johnson (14.56) and Chad Thompson Jr. (14.97) qualified for the finals of the 110 Hurdles. Schroeder ran the fastest time (14.26) in qualifying.
400-meter run Prelims - UWL had six runners qualify in the 400-meter run including Chase Doonink (47.10), Collin Conzemius (47.11), Caden Pearce (47.79), Addison Hill (47.877, Jacob Hohmann (48.06) and Tyler Backes (48.49).
100-meter Dash Prelims - Sam Blaskowski qualified with the fastest time in the 100-meter dash as he finished with a time of 10.23.
800-meter Run Prelims - Cael Schoemann led four Eagles in qualifying for the 800-meter run finals with a time of 1:51.19. Also qualifying for the finals was Parker Heintz (1:52.15), Owen Klaus (1:53.09) and Michael Madoch (1:53.18).
400 Hurdles Prelims- Dirk Lueck (53.89) and Payton Flood (54.12) both qualified for the 400 Hurdle finals.
200-meter Dash Prelims - Schroeder qualified for his second event of the day as he ran a time of 21.55 to advance to the finals on Saturday.
10,000-meter Run Finals - Corey Fairchild (30:30.29) and Isaac Wegner (30:30.71) finished second and third respectively in the 10,000-meter run.
