Tumminaro and Wegner Earn NCAA All-America Honors; Men's Track and Field in 20th Place After Day One

Andrew Tumminaro finishes eighth in pole vault ot earn NCAA All-America Honors
Myrtle Beach, SC. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track and field team is tied for 20th after the first day of action at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Outdoor Championships Thursday at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. 

2024 NCAA III OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP BASICS
  • Team Results - UWL is tied for 20th place with 4 points. Leading the Championships is UW-Oshkosh with 18 points while Wartburg College (Iowa) is in second with 12 points followed by Rowan (NJ), UW-Eau Claire, Catholic (DC), Simpson (Iowa) and Whitworth (WA) who are all tied with 10 points. 
  • Location - Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium, Myrtle Beach, SC. (hosted by  Coastal Carolina University along with the Myrtle Beach Regional Sports Alliance)
  • UWL at NCAA III Championships - UWL has won an NCAA Division III record 15 Outdoor Championships. The Eagles finished second last year with a score of 49 points. 
  • Up Next: Day two of the Championships gets underway at 11:30 a.m Saturday morning.

Field Events
  • Long Jump (Final) - Triton Schmidt finished 15th in the long jump with a mark of 22-11 3/4.  
  • Pole Vault (Final) - Earning his first NCAA All-America honor was Andrew Tumminaro (16-2 1/2) with his eighth place finish in the pole vault. Finishing tied for 10th was JT Zell with a mark of 15-10 1/2. 
    Track Events
  • 4x100 Relay (Prelims) - The 4x100 meter relay team of Spencer Reichart, Sam Blaskowski, Collin Conzemius and Luke Schroeder qualified for the finals on Saturday with the top time of 39.92. 
  • 200 Meter Dash (Prelims) - Blaskowski qualified for the 200-meter dash finals with the top time and school record 20.55 while Schroeder also qualified with a time of 21.10. 
  • 3000 Meter Steeplechase (Prelims) - UWL had four runners qualify for the finals in the 3000-meter steeplechase led by Adam Loenser with a time of 9:02.17. Also qualifying was Joey Sullivan (9:04.26), Jayden Zywicki (9:07.53) and Mason Brown (9:08.46).
  • 4x400 Relay (Prelims) - The 4x400 relay team of Consemius, Addison HIll, Caden Pearce and Jacob Hohmann qualified for Saturday's final with a time of 3:11.88
  • 10000 Meter Run (Finals) - Earning his first NCAA All-America honor was Isaac Wegner who finished sixth in the 10000-meter run with a time of 30:51.04.
