Men's Track and Field Competes at Kansas Relays; Wins Phil Esten Challenge

La Crosse, Wis. - Members of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track and field team competed at the Kansas Relays as well as the team hosted the Phil Esten Challenge Friday and Saturday.

THE BASICS

Kansas Relay Results; No team scores were kept.
Location: Rock Chalk Park (University of Kansas), Lawrence, KS
Phil Esten Challen Results: UWL finished in first place with 190 points while UW-Eau Claire was second with 113 points. Rounding out the top five was UW-Stout (84 points) in third, UW-Stevens Point (77 points) in fourth and Michigan Tech (75 points) in fifth.
Location: Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex, La Crosse, Wis.
Up next: The Eagles will have members of the team competing at the Drake Relays (April 25-27) in Des Moines, Iowa along with student-athletes competing at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational.

THE RESULTS
FIELD EVENTS

Hammer Throw - Logan Powers led the Eagles, who had three of the top five marks, in the hammer throw. Powers finished second with a mark of 185-4 while Aiden Williams (177-4) was fourth and Douglas Grace (174-11) fifth.
Shot Put - Ethan Welch finished third in the shot put with a throw of 49-2 1/2.
Long Jump - Four of the top six finishers in the long jump came from the Eagles with Sebastian Jefferson (23-3 1/2) finishing second. Triton Schmidt (22-1) was next in third place for the Eagles followed by Carter Pearson (22-7 3/4) in fourth and Nick Crary (21-7 1/4) in sixth.
Triple Jump - The Eagles had four of the top six jumpers in the triple jump with Nick Crary finishing finishing first (46-10 1/4) to lead the way. William Cady was third(45-7 3/4) while Pearson was fourth (44-9 1/3) and Brody Kluge (43-9 3/4).
Pole Vault - The Eagles had three of the top five finishers in the pole vault with Andrew Tumminaro (15-11 3/4) leading the was with a second place finish. Jonathon Zell (15-11 3/4) finished fourth overall while Ashton Moody (15-5 3/4) was fifth.
Javelin Throw - Nate Lawrence (160-11) finished third in the javelin.

TRACK EVENTS

10,000-meter run - Isaac Wegner won the 10,000 meter run with a time of 29:37.17 while Corey Fairchild (29:41.70) was third.
800-meter run - The Eagles had three of the top five finishers in the 800-meter run with Michael Madoch winning the event in a time of 1:53.15. In fourth place was Parker Heintz (1:55.17) and right behind him was Owen Klaus (1:55.43) in fifth place.
100-meter dash - Paul Lough won the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.93 while Spencer Reichart finished third in time of 11.00.
200-meter dash - Luke Schroeder won the 200-meter dash in a time of 21.56.
110-meter hurdles - Chad Thompson Jr was the top finisher for the Eagles in the 110-meter hurdles as he finished third (15.13). Lukas Johsnon (15.18) was fifth while Ayden Hart (15.70) was sixth.
400-meter dash - UWL had the top two finishers in the 400-meter dash at the Kansas Relays as Collin Consemius (47.58) finished first and Chase Doornink (47.74) was second.
400-meter hurdles - Dirk Lueck finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles at the Kansas Relays with a time of 53.81. At the Phil Esten Challenge, Ayden Hart won the event in a time of 56.62while Emanuel Kutzera-Drummer finished fourth (58.16).
4x400-meter relay - The relay team of Cale Schoemann, Klaus, Jayden Zywicki and Joey Sullivan finished third (3:28.55) in the 4x400 relay.
Decathlon - Bryant Yanke was the Eagles top finisher in the decathlon as he finished with 6,085 points in fourth place. Joseph Jensen finished sixth with 5,677 points.
