Box Score Bloomington, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's lacrosse team improved to 5-1 on the season with a 20-14 win at Illinois Wesleyan University Saturday afternoon at Tucci Stadium. The Titans drop to 5-3 on the year.
After Illinois Wesleyan scored the game's first goal with 14:27 left in the first quarter, UWL went on a 5-0 run.
Ava Schiltz and
Megan Feeney each had a pair of goals while
Kiersten Pelletier recorded one. Schiltz,
Megan Maloney and
Grace Willmott had assists. Schiltz scored the Eagles' first two goals to make it 2-1 and UWL would never trail the rest of the game.
UWL led, 6-3, after the first quarter. Feeney scored her third goal of the quarter with 1:18 remaining in the first quarter.
The Eagles took a 13-7 halftime advantage, outscoring the Titans, 7-4, in the second quarter. Schiltz scored three goals in the quarter while Feeney and
Emily Wrobbel each had two.
Both teams scored seven goals in the second half. Willmott recorded three goals in the final 30:00 for UWL.
UWL finished with 36 shots in the game as Schiltz led the team with six goals. She also recorded one assist. Feeney finished with five goals while Willmott recorded three goals and one assist. Wrobbel and Maloney each had two goals with Maloney finishing with a team-high three assists. Abigale Furlano earned the victory, recording 17 saves and seven ground balls.
Lydia Spencer led UWL with four caused turnovers.
Illinois Wesleyan recorded 44 shots. Britney Maldonado led the Titans with four goals while Avery Setzler had three. Devon Hanson and Mia Fiandaca each had two goals. Bri Kiser had five saves.
UWL returns to action Tuesday, March 26 at the University of Northwestern (Minn.) at 7 p.m.
