La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team fell 57-54 to the College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) Sunday afternoon.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN

• With the score tied at seven, UWL scored five of the next six points to lead 12-8 with 3:11 left in the first quarter. A Megan Morgan three-pointer followed by a Sophia Jones free throw for the Bennies would tie it at 12 (1:49). After the Eagles took a 16-14 lead on a layup by Kailee Meeker, Morgan hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to give College of Saint Benedict a 17-16 lead. 
• The Bennies used a 7-2 run to turn a two point deficit into a 24-21 lead with 5:39 left in the second quarter. Two free throws from Sydney Torgerson tied the game at 25 for UWL. The Eagles would then score the final six points of the first half to lead 33-28. Two free throws and a layup by Grace Knupp as well as a layup from Lauryn Milne sparked the run at the end of the first half for UWL. 
• The Eagles would score six of the first eight points of the third quarter to take its largest lead of the game at 39-30 with 8:51 left. The Bennies responded with a  13-0 run to take a 43-39 lead to a force an Eagles timeout with 4:51 on the clock. UWL would tie it up at 43 on two free throws from Madisyn Kilboten followed by a jumper from Milne. The Bennies would get a jumper from Olivia Boily on their final possession of the third quarter to lead 47-45. 
• College of Saint Benedict took a 51-46 (7:32) lead on a layup by Kira Young and two free throws by Morgan. UWL would score eight of the next nine points to take a 54-52 lead with 1:29 remaining. Sydney Torgerson scored four points to help spark the mini run for the Eagles. The Bennies would hit three of four free throws to give them a 57-54 lead with :20 remaining. After a UWL timeout, the Eagles would get a contested three-pointer by Milne but it would come up short with :01 left.

• As a team, the Eagles finished 20-of-60 (33.3%) from the floor including two-of-22 (9.1%%) from the three-point line. UWL was also 12-of-16 (75%) from the free throw line. 
• Individually, UWL was led offensively by Milne with 14 points while Knupp added 10 points. 
• Milne, Knupp, Nelson, and Sprangers each grabbed six rebounds to help give UWL a 42-34 advantage in rebounding.
• College of Saint Benedict finished the game shooting 18-of-49 (36.7%) from the floor including four-of-21 (19%) from the three-point line. The Bennies also finished 17-of-24 (70.8%) from the free throw line.
• Morgan finished with 16 points and seven rebounds to lead the Bennies while Boily had 10 points and six rebounds.
