La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team defeated Loras College (Iowa) for their final home non-conference game of the season Saturday night.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN
- Trailing 8-4 with 5:00 left in the first quarter, UWL went on a 10-0 run to take a 14-8 lead (2:06). Katie Waukau started the run with a three-pointer while Lindsey Knuth ended the run with a three-pointer. Ashtyn Kelderman would hit a three-pointer from half court as time expired to cut Loras' deficit to 14-13 after the first quarter.
- Grace Knupp would hit a three-pointer and a jumper to start the second quarter to give the Eagles an 18-13 lead. Loras would score the next six points to take a 19-18 lead with 6:34 remaining in the second quarter. The two teams would traded baskets before the Eagles scored the final six points of the half to lead 27-22.
- After Loras cut their deficit to 29-27, UWL got a layup from Knupp and a free throw by Ali Sprangers to take a 32-27 lead midway through the third quarter. The Duhawks would tie it at 32 on a layup by Silvana Scarsella with 3:35 left. Waukau would hit a three-pointer for the Eagles followed by two free throws from Lauryn Milne to put UWL up 37-32 (1:14). Loras scored the final four points of the quarter to pull within one at 37-36 heading in to the fourth quarter.
- Trailing 41-36 with 6:31 remaining, Loras scored five straight including a three-pointer from Lexi Beier to tie it at 41. Back-to-back three-pointers by Sprangers would give UWL a 50-42 lead with just under four minutes to play. Beier would cut the Duhawks deficit to 52-48 with a three-pointer but Waukau hit an Eagle three-pointer on the next possession (1:21) and Loras would not get any closer than six the rest of the way.

- As a team, the Eagles finished 20-of-62 (32.3%) from the floor including seven-of-27 (25.9%) from the three-point line. UWL was also 15-of-24 (62.5%) from the free throw line.
- Knupp led the Eagles with 17 points, two assists and three steals while Sprangers added 12 points, nine rebounds and four block shots.
- Milne grabbed seven rebounds to help the Eagles have a 46-39 advantage on the boards while also also scoring eight points.
- The Duhawks shot 19-of-56 (33.9%) from the floor including six-of-27 (22.2%) from the three-point line. Loras also finished 12-of-22 from the free throw line.
- Beier led all scorers with 18 points while Scarsella added 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
