Wrestling Competes At Augsburg Open and Titan Duals

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team competed at the Augsburg University (Minn.) Open and the Titan Duals (hosted by UW-Oshkosh) Saturday.

THE BASICS

Results: UW-La Crosse defeated Aurora University 43-0, No team results were kept in UWL matches against Harper College (Ill.).

125 - Ino Garcia defeated Tyler Evitts 19-3 for a technical fall.
133 - Wyatt Magolski won by decision (12-10) over Carlos Munoz-Flores.
141 - Talan Schutte defeated Cameron Johnson due to injury 1:24.
149 - Josh Cherba picked up a major decision win over Ashton Massaro 17-8.
157 - Cole Hansen kept the Eagles perfect as he defeated Austin Abitua 10-3.
165 - Tyler Goebel won by major decision over Austin Martin 16-3.
174 - Sedeeq AlObaidai won by Technical Fall (19-4) over Emanuel Diaz.
184 - Marcus Orlandoni earned a major win over Alton Mullinax 15-3.
197 - Ben Kawczynski defeated Randy Manos by fall (2:55).
285 - Michael Douglas beat Cam'ron Harper 2-0.

Gold Brackets

125 - Quintin Wolbert finished second overall as he earned a win by Technical Fall (18-2) over Jaxton Packer of the University of Sioux Falls in the first round. In the second round, Wolbert advanced with a major decision over (18-4) Jackson Heaston of Upper Iowa University. Then in his semifinal match, Wolbert defeated Wyatt Kaczrowski 11-7. In the finals, Wolbert fell 11-4 to Matt Griffin of The College of New Jersey.
133 - Matt Haldiman defeated Lucas Ryan of Minnesota State Mankato fall (4:32) before falling to Dawson Schmit (Upper Iowa University) by fall 6:23. He then defeated teammate Cael Weinzweig 10-1 for a major decision. A 4-1 decison for Haldiman over Thomas Oswald (Augsburg University (Minn.)) advanced him to the fifth place match where he fell 6-0 to Chase Beckett of Minnesota State Mankato.
141 - After a first round by, Kaiden Schrandt lost 8-0 to Brayden Sonnentag. Schrandt finished the day 3-2 as he earned a win by fall (2:55) over Khalil Saldivar (Luther College (Iowa)) and a Technical Fall (18-2) win over Tristan Day (Luther College (Iowa) before falling to Austin Gabbert (Augsburg University (Minn.)) 4-1.
149 - Joe Penchi finished the day 1-2 at 149 pounds.
157 -Tanner Gerber went 3-1 on the day as he finished second at 157 pounds. Gerber got back-to-back falls (Curtis Schott, Central College (Iowa) and Karsen Otis, Augsburg University (Minn.)) before winning 10-3 over Blake Jagodzinske of Augsburg University (Minn.). Then in the finals, Gerber medically forfeited to Charlie Stuhl of Augsburg University (Minn.).
165 - Tate Flege went 3-1 and finished second as he lost 9-3 in the championship match to Cooper Willis (Augsburg University, (Minn.)). Flege got to the championship match by defeating Joe Ebaugh (Upper Iowa) and Jason Smith (Stevens (NJ) by fall and earning a sudden victory (6-3) over Nicholas Sacco (The College of New Jersey). Brett Skaug went 0-2 at 165 pounds.
174 - Eddie Simes finished second at 174 as he went 3-1. Simes earned wins over Grant Moraski (Sioux Falls, SD) (16-4), Nick Alexander (Augsburg University, Minn) 5-3, Hunter Mays (The College of New Jersey) 1-0 before falling 4-3 to Seth Goetzinger of Augsburg University (Minn.).
184 - Camren Dennee and Tyler Dormanen both lost their first round matches but then won four times to face each other in the fifth place match. Dormanen medically forfeited as Dennee finished fifth overall. Dormanen picked up two falls and a decision in the consolation bracket while Dennee had a bye, an 18-6 major decision and a 7-5 decision.
197 - Like 184, two Eagles advanced to the fifth place match as both Gabe Carter and Kasey Gish each advanced to the second round before losing. They each won their next two matches to advance to the fifth place match. Carter medically forfeited in the fifth place match as Gish finished fifth. Gish earned two Technical Falls in the consolation bracket while Carter had a fall and a 7-0 decision.

125 - After an opening round bye, Grant Madl went 2-1 to finish third overall.
133 - Teague Holzer went 3-1 to finish second overall. Carter West (Central College) defeated Holzer 9-6 in the finals. Also wrestling at 133 was Noah Moltzan who went 3-1 and defeated Liam Stockberger (Luther College (Iowa)) 15-9 in the fifth place match.
141 - Jack Krier went 1-2 and Marcus McIntyre finished 1-1.
174 - Jack Gillis took first at 174 by going 3-0.
