Eau Claire, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team defeated Simpson College (Iowa) Sunday afternoon on day two the Market & Johnson Blugold Tip-Off Tournament.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN
- UWL got off to a fast start in the first quarter as they opened with a 12-4 run. Ali Sprangers put the Eagles on the scoreboard first with a three-pointer and Molly Janke capped the run with a three pointer. Simpson scored eight of the next 10 points to cut their deficit to 14-12 with 5:11 left in the quarter. UWL then closed the quarter with a 9-6 run to lead 23-18.
- A Janke three-pointer would give the Eagles a 34-23 lead with 6:44 left in the second quarter. Morgan Pietag would cut Simpson's deficit to 34-29 with a three pointer with 5:52 left. Two free throws by Madisyn Kilboten would give the Eagles a 45-38 lead which the score remained at halftime.
- A three-point play by Lauryn Milne would give UWL a 50-40 lead with 8:14 left in the third quarter. Simpson then would score 13 of the next 18 points to cut their deficit to 55-53 with 4:58 remaining. Leading to 62-57, the Eagles would get a three-pointer from Lindsey Knuth followed by a three-point play and three-pointer from Milne to help extend UWL's lead by 73-63. UWL would lead 74-67 after three quarters.
- UWL would extend their lead to its largest (85-68, 7:10) after the Eagles would get a two, three-pointers from Grace Knupp, a three-pointer from Janke and a jumper by Kailee Meeker. Simpson would not get any closer than 87-77 (5:00) the rest of the way.

- As a team, the Eagles shot 38-of-77 (49.4%) from the floor including 11-of-33 (33.3%) from three-point range. UWL was also 14-of-16 (87.5%) from the free throw line.
- Individually, Milne recorded her first double-double of the season as she score 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
- Four others joined Milne in double figures including Janke with 17 points, Knupp and Knuth each finished with 13 points while Malia Nelson added 10.
- UWL finished with a 39-27 advantage in rebounding.
- Breaking the century mark in points was the first time for the Eagles since doing it against Mount Senario (Wis.) on November 24, 1996.UWL defeated Mount Senario 102-30.
- Simpson finished the game shooting 27-of-50 (54%) from the floor including 13-of-24 (54.2%) from behind the three-point line. Simpson finished 22-of-28 (78.6%) from the free throw line.
- Haley Rassmussen led Simpson with 27 points while Maddax DeVault added 15 points and Molly Lutmer finished with 14 points.
