Men's Track and Field Wins Squig Converse Invitational; Record Seven Top Finishers

Whitewater, Wis.
- The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Men's Track and Field team competed at the Leonard "Squig" Converse Invitational hosted by UW-Whitewater Friday and Saturday. 

THE BASICS
  • Results: UWL won the team title with a score of 198 point. Rounding ou the top five was UW-Whitewater in second with 144 points while UW-Stevens Point was third (93.5 points), MSOE (Wis.) fourth (69 points) and Carthage (Wis) fifth (55 points).  
  • Up next: The Eagles will return home on Saturday, February 3 for the Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational. Action is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.

THE RESULTS

   
Heptathlon
  • Joseph Jensen took first in the heptathlon with a point total of 4628 points. Jensen finished first in the 1,000 meter run and pole vault while also finishing in the top five in the 60H (second), shot put (second), high jump (fifth) and long jump (fifth).   
   
    FIELD EVENTS
  • High Jump - Nathan Andringa finished second overall in the high jump with a leap of 6-6 3/4. 
  • Pole Vault - The Eagles took three of the top five spots in the pole vault with Andrew Tumminaro finishing first 15-7 1/4. In second place was Ashton Moody (15-1 1/2) while Gaven Lange was fifth(14-7 1/2). 
  • Long Jump - The Eagles scored in places two through eight in the long jump with Sebastian Jefferson tying for second with a jump of 23-5 1/2. Andrew Hermes finished fourth (22-9 1/4) and Sam Blaskowski fifth 22-7 1/4.
  • Triple Jump - Carter Pearson finished second (46-9) and Brody Kluge fourth (44-10 1/4) in the triple jump. 
  • Shot Put - Three of the top four finishers in the shot put were in UWL uniforms as Ben Youngworth finished first (50-8), Ethan Welch second (50-5 1/4) and Spencer Prats fourth (49-6 1/4).
  • Weight Throw - Aiden Williams took home the title in the weight throw with a throw of 56-5 3/4 while teammate Logan Powers finshed third (54-4 3/4).
    TRACK EVENTS 
  • 60-meter hurdles - The Eagles took took the top two spots along with the fifth spot in the 60-meter hurdles. Chad Thompson Jr. finished first with a time of 8.34 while Lukas Johnson was second (8.38) and Ayden Hart fifth (8.82).
  • 60-meter dash - Ryder Smith was the top Eagle finisher in the 60 meter dash as he was second overall with a time of 6.90. Finishing in fourth was Spencer Reichart (6.98) and in fifth was Paul Lough (7.08).
  • 800-meter - Cael Schoemann won the 800-meter run in a time of 1:52.37. 
  • 200-meter - Ethan Turbeville won the 200-meter run in a time of 22.45 while Lough was second (22.53) Reichart also finished in the top five as he was fifth overall with a time of 22.67.
