La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team hosted the UWL Final Qualifier Thursday night at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. No team scores were recorded.
The Eagles also competed at the Augustana College (Ill.) Midwest Twilight on Thursday.
UWL won four events on Thursday at the UWL Final Qualifer, all coming on the track.
Cael Schoemann won the 800-meter run (1:50.01) while
Jayden Zywicki took the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:02.58) and
Aidan Matthai the 5,000-meter run (14:25.49).
The Eagles' 4x100-meter relay of Paul Lough,
Sam Blaskowski,
Spencer Reichart and
Luke Schroeder took first (40.76). Blaskowski also set a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III record in the 100-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 10.16. He broke the record of 10.18 set by Derrick Rippy of the University of Mount Union (Ohio) in 1983.
Other top-six finishers on the track Thursday for UWL included
Spencer Reichart second (10.53) and Lough sixth (10.83) in the 100-meter dash while
Dirk Lueck was second (53.84) and
Payton Flood sixth (55.17) in the 400-meter hurdles.
Carter Kummet finished sixth (22.27) in the 200-meter dash.
Elias Ritzke placed third (9:03.49),
Nick Kepford fourth (9:05.51) and
Luke Chaffin fifth (9:05.90) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Corey Fairchild was second (14:28.38) in the 5,000-meter run. The 4x400-meter relay of
Addison Hill,
Chase Doornink,
Tyler Backes and
Caden Pearce were fourth (3:32.44).
In Thursday's field events,
JT Zell placed second (16-3 1/2) and
Christian Schultz sixth (14-6) in the pole vault. Four athletes finished in the top-six in the triple jump as
William Cady was second (47-9),
Nick Crary third (47-2 1/4),
Brody Kluge fifth (46-3 1/4) and
Chase Roehl sixth (45-6 1/4).
Terrance Cottrell-Roberson was third (23-2 3/4) and
Triton Schmidt fourth (23-0 3/4) in the long jump.
Bryce Sitko finished third (153-7) and
Spencer Prats fourth (149-11) in the discus throw while
Aiden Williams placed fourth (178-10) in the hammer throw.
At the Augustana (Ill.) Twilight, UWL won the 4x400-meter relay (3:08.34) with Doornink, Backes, Hill and Pearce.
Michael Madoch placed fifth (3:47.30) in the 1,500-meter run.
UWL returns to action Thursday, May 25 at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Championships in Rochester, New York.
