Waverly, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team opened its outdoor season at the Wartburg College (Iowa) Select on Saturday-Sunday, April 1-2. The Eagles finished fourth with 81.33 points while Northern Iowa University took the team title with 160.50. A total of 16 teams competed.
UWL won four individual titles, including
Emily Dawidowich taking the 100 (12.25) and 200 (25.31) meter dashes.
In the field events,
Gabby Johnson won the javelin throw (129-9) and
Araceli De Leo Lopez the pole vault (12-4 1/2).
Other top-eight finishes on the track included
Julia Anderson finishing third (2:21.19) in the 800-meter run,
Dyllan Powers sixth (26.31) in the 200-meter dash and
Bryn Sato eighth (12:28.10) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
In the field events,
Ashley O'Connell was second (11-4 1/2) in the pole vault while
Skye Digman was third (183-3) in the hammer throw.
Leah Surprenant was fifth (168-3) and
Holly Wardynski eighth (156-6) in the hammer throw.
Ava Foley placed fifth (17-8 3/4) in the long jump with Kyah Frederixon sixth (36-9 1/2) and
Carly Schreurs seventh (36-5 1/2) in the triple jump.
Alia Vanderhoef finished seventh (5-1) and
Hannah Lacey tied for eighth (4-11) in the high jump.
UWL returns to action Friday, April 7 hosting the Ashton May Invitational at 11 a.m.
