La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Milwaukee School of Engineering (Wis.) Wednesday afternoon at North Campus Field. The Raiders took the opener, 5-3, before the Eagles came back to win the nightcap, 7-3. UWL is now 15-10 on the season while MSOE (Wis.) is 14-8.
UWL took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third in the opener as
Abbey Bosch singled to start the inning, stole second and scored on
Kyra Lard's double to center field.

MSOE (Wis.) scored three times in the top of the fourth. Caroline Fouras' two-run single scored Regan Jordan and Lauren Stefanczyk to give the Raiders a 2-1 lead. Faith Matta was later hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded to make it 3-1. The Raiders added to their lead in the top of the fifth as Stefanczyk scored on a Jocelyn Clodi single to make it 4-1.
The Eagles cut it to 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth.
Jordyn McCormack walked with one out and stole second. After a
Anna Jensen bunt single advanced McCormack to third,
Madi O'Brien's RBI groundout scored McCormack to make it a two-run game.
Morgan Long's RBI double in the top of the sixth scoring Lexi Koepke gave MSOE (Wis.) a 5-2 lead.
Isabel Queenan led-off the bottom of the sixth with a walk for UWL and went to third on Bosch single. Lard's sacrifice fly scored Queenan to cut the deficit to 5-3. UWL got the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but failed to score.

Elise Weinzierl (6-6) suffered the loss for UWL, pitching 5.0 innings, allowing four hits, three runs (one earned) and two walks while striking out eight. The Eagles finished with seven hits as Bosch went 2-for-4 with one run. Lard had two RBI.
Kennedy Lehn (8-5) earned the win in the opener for MSOE (Wis.), going 5.0 innings, allowing four hits, three runs and eight walks with six strikeouts. Sarah Grossman picked up her second save, pitching 2.0 innings, allowing three hits with three strikeouts. The Raiders totaled nine hits as Fouras went 3-for-4 with two RBI and Stefanczyk finished 2-for-3 with two runs and one walk.
In the nightcap, UWL scored four runs in the bottom of the first. Bosch opened the game with a single and went to second on an error. Lard's single moved Bosch to third and McCormack followed with an RBI single to score Bosch with the game's first run.
Marissa Pease singled to load the bases. After a strikeout, O'Brien hit a bases clearing double to give UWL a 4-0 lead.
Lard doubled with two outs in the bottom of the second and scored on McCormack's single to make it 5-0. In the third,
Hailey Jibben's two-run home run scored
Jordan Schultz to give UWL a 7-0 advantage.
MSOE (Wis.) scored three times in the top of the sixth. Long's single scored Matta and the Raiders scored a pair of unearned runs to make it 7-3. Lexi Koepke scored on a throwing error and Long came in on Grace Brown's RBI single. MSOE (Wis.) left two runners on base in the sixth and two more in the seventh.

Remington Stark (2-0) earned the win for UWL, pitching 4.0 innings, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out one.
Ally Eden went 2.0 innings, allowing four hits and three unearned runs with three strikeouts. Weinzierl pitched 1.0 inning, allowing one hit. The Eagles had nine hits as Lard and McCormack each went 2-for-4. Lard scored twice while McCormack had two RBI and one run. O'Brien finished with three RBI while Jibben had two.
Grossman (5-3) took the loss for MSOE (Wis.). She pitched 1.1 innings, allowing five hits and four runs with one strikeout. The Raiders had eight hits with Long and Jenna Trewyn each finishing 2-for-4. Fouras went 2-for-3.
UWL returns to action Saturday, April 15 with a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) doubleheader at UW-Platteville at 2 p.m.
