River Forest, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse lacrosse team extended its winning streak to four with a 15-4 victory at Concordia University Chicago (Ill.) Wednesday afternoon at Concordia Stadium. The Eagles improve to 5-2 on the season while the Cougars drop to 1-6.
UWL scored first on Wednesday with
Lauren Schwartz scoring with 14:58 left in the first quarter. Concordia Chicago (Ill.) tied it at 1-1 on Kelli Pietrowski's goal with 12:23 remaining on a Jessica Parker assist. The Eagles scored the contest's next three goals to take a 4-1 advantage. Schwartz (11:14 left),
Megan Feeney (6:24) and
Abigail Steigauf (4:38) gave UWL a three-goal lead. Schwartz assisted on Feeney's goal while
Ava Schiltz recorded an assist on Steigauf's goal. Parker scored with 3:03 remaining to cut the lead to 4-2 after the opening quarter.
Steigauf (13:16),
Kiersten Pelletier (8:02) and Schiltz (4:30) gave UWL a 7-2 lead in the second quarter. Schwartz assisted the Steigauf assist. After the Cougars cut it to 7-3 on a Brynn Beetow goal with 2:50 remaining, the Eagles scored three straight goals to take a 10-3 halftime lead. Schiltz scored with 2:00 and 1:42 left while
Olivia Gscheidmeier notched a goal with :22 remaining on a Schiltz assist.
UWL scored the only goal in the third quarter as Steigauf scored a man-up goal with 12:26 left.
The Eagles outscored the Cougars, 3-1, in the fourth quarter.Schwartz scored a man-down goal with 10:46 left for a 12-3 lead. Feeney gave UWL a 13-3 lead with 6:56 remaining on a man-up goal, before Rylee Orenstein scored for Concordia Chicago with 6:37 left to cut it to 13-4. Schwartz scored her fourth goal of the game with 2:49 left off a Schiltz' assist and Feeney notched her third goal of the game with :35 remaining.
UWL finished with 45 shots in the game, including 32 on goal. Schwartz had four goals and two assists while Schiltz finished with three goals and three assists. Steigauf and Feeney each scored three times.
Abi Furlano earned the win in goal, recording seven saves.
Concordia Chicago (Ill.) was held to 19 shots with 11 on goal. Four different players scored. Ryan McGee had 17 saves for the Cougars.
UWL returns to action Friday, March 31 hosting Augsburg University (Minn.) at 3:30 p.m.
