Box Score Davenport, Fla. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse baseball team earned a 9-7 victory over William Paterson University (N.J.) Saturday at North East Regional Park. The Eagles improve to 3-2 while the Pioneers drop to 8-5.
William Paterson (N.J.) took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on Steve Yelin's two-run double.Â
UWL cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the third.

The Eagles tied it 2-2 in the top of the fourth and took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth. In the fourth,
George Seaman doubled to lead-off the inning and scored on
Eli Roberts' two-out infield single to tie the game.
Jack Moran led-off the fifth with a triple and scored on
Mac Born's sacrifice fly to give UWL its one-run lead.Â
The Pioneers tied the game in the bottom of the fifth as Christian Hay scored on a Steven DeGirolamo groundout.Â
William Paterson (N.J.) took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth. Dan Carter doubled, went to third on a Jake Lutz' sacrifice bunt and scored on pinch-hitter Carson Weis' RBI double.Â
UWL scored five times in the top of the seventh on three home runs. Olver's two-run home run gave the Eagles a 5-4 lead and
George Seaman later connected on a two-run home run to make it 7-4.
Anthony Vivian followed with a solo home run to extend the lead to 8-4.Â
William Paterson (N.J.) cut its deficit to 8-6 in the bottom of the seventh on Colin Lombardo's two-run home run.Â
UWL took a 9-6Â lead in the top of the eighth with Moran scoring on a wild pitch. William Paterson (N.J.) cut it to 9-7 in the bottom of the eighth after Yelin was hit-by-pitch with the bases-loaded, but the Pioneers left the bases-loaded to end the inning.
UWL totaled 13 hits with Moran going 4-for-4 with three runs. Seaman went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI while Vivian and Roberts each had two hits.
Alex Mach earned the win, pitching 2.1 innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out four.
Caleb Matl picked up the save, going 1.1 innings with three strikeouts.
Sawyer Phillips started, pitching 5.1 innings, allowing six hits, four runs and two walks with five strikeouts.Â
William Paterson (N.J.) finished with 11 hits. Lombardo, Carter and Tyler Ruban each had two hits for the Pioneers. Yelin had three RBI. Dan Castaneda suffered the loss, pitching 1.0 inning, allowing five hits and five runs with one strikeout. Matt Lawler started, going 5.1 innings, allowing six hits, three runs and three walks while striking out six.Â
