La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track team hosted the
Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational Saturday afternoon in The Fieldhouse. No team scores were recorded.
UWL won five individual events on Saturday, including two in the field events and three on the track.

In the triple jump,
Nick Crary finished with the top mark as he jumped 46-0 3/4 and was followed in second by
Chase Roehl (45-8) and third by
Brody Kluge (45-5). In the high jump,
Nathan Andringa captured the title (6-8 3/4).
Sam Blaskowski finished second in the long jump (23-8) while
Cameron Sorenson was fourth (22-10).
Logan Larson was the Eagles' top performer in the pole vault as he finished fourth (15-0 1/4).
Aiden Williams was third in the weight throw (56-7 1/2).
Blaskowski tied the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III record in Saturday's 60-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 6.68. He tied the record set by UW-Eau Claire's Thurgood Dennis set in 2014. Blaskowski broke his own school record of 6.70 set at the UWL Pat Healy Classic on January 21. He broke Alex Koenen's school record of 6.73 from 2016.
On the track,
Cael Schoemann won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.93 with teammates
Elias Ritzke was second (1:56.43),
Thomas Blumer third (1:56.49) and
Michael Madoch fourth (1:56.65).
Ethan Gregg was the top finisher in the mile run (4:10.77) while
Isaac Wegner was third (4:18.11). In the 3,000-meter run, UWL's
Aidan Matthai won the title (8:26.40) while
Adam Loenser placed second (8:28.86),
Christopher Wolfe third (8:35.52) and
Zach Slevin fouth (8:36.68).
UWL finished second and third in the 60-meter with
Spencer Reichart placing second (6.84) and
Ryder Smith third (6.94).
Addison Hill finished second (49.22) in the 400-meter dash followed by
Tyler Backes third (49.415) and
Chase Doornink fourth (49.418).

In the final race of the meet, the Eagles' 4x400-meter relay of Doornink, Hill,
Payton Flood and Backes finished second (3:17.06).
Guthrie was head men's track & field coach at UWL from 1988-2006, leading the Eagles to 22 NCAA Division III Championships. UWL captured 12 indoor and 10 outdoor titles, sweeping the championships in 10 different seasons. His peers in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named Guthrie the Division III National Coach of the Year eight times and regional coach of the year on 11 different occasions.
Under Guthrie's direction, UWL won 34 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) titles (16 indoor; 18 outdoor) as he was selected the league's coach of the year 16 times. He was named the WIAC Men's Track & Field All-Time Coach in conjunction with the conference's Centennial Celebration in 2012. Guthrie was inducted into the inaugural 30-member WIAC Hall of Fame Class in 2012.
He is a member of the UWL Wall of Fame and USTFCCCA Hall of Fame.
