La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team won the UWL Eagle Open Friday night in The Fieldhouse. The Eagles finished with 170.5 team points while Loras College (Iowa) was second with 117.0 and UW-Whitewater third with 78.5.
Ripon College (Wis.) and Wartburg College (Iowa) tied for fourth (72.0) with Bethel University (Minn.) sixth (42.0), UW-Oshkosh seventh (6.0) and North Central College (Ill.) eighth (5.0).
UWL's
Nathan Andringa took the high jump title (6-7) title on Friday.
The Eagles' distance medley relay of
Cael Schoemann,
Caden Pearce,
Thomas Blumer,
Ethan Gregg placed second with a school record time of 9:54.29. UWL broke the record of 9:55.25 set by Samuel Hinz, Charlie Handrick, Brian Hansford and Joshua Schraeder in 2019.
Other top-six finishers in the field events included
JT Zell and
Logan Larson tied for second (15-3 1/2) in the pole vault while
Ashton Moody was fifth (14-9 1/2) and
Jacob Wodushek sixth (14-9 1/2).
Aiden Williams finished second (58-1 3/4),
Douglas Grace fourth (53-9 1/4) and
Logan Powers fifth (53-1) in the weight throw.
Nolan Seaberg was fourth (6-3 1/4) in the high jump while
Nick Crary placed fourth (45-11 1/4),
William Cady fifth (45-7 1/4) and
Brody Kluge sixth (44-8 1/4) in the triple jump.
Cameron Sorenson was fourth (23-0) and Crary sixth (22-3 3/4) in the long jump.
Bryce Sitko was fifth (47-5 3/4) in the shot put.
In Friday's track events,
Ryder Smith was second (6.86) in the 60-meter dash while Luke Schroeder finished second (21.96),
Caden Pearce fourth (22.24) and
Luke Vance sixth (22.38) in the 200-meter dash.
Dirk Lueck placed second (1;55.97) in the 800-meter run while
Parker Heintz was third (1:56.00) and
Jayden Zywicki sixth (1:57.42).
UWL had three of the top-six finishers in the 60-meter hurdles as
Lukas Johnson placed fourth (8.54),
Carson Reilly fifth (8.63) and
Chad Thompson Jr. sixth (8.68).
Corey Fairchild placed second (8:41.77) and
Ben Stangel fourth (844.47) in the 3,000-meter run. The Eagles' 4x400-mete relay of
Addison Hill,
Tyler Backes,
Chase Doornink and
Payton Flood were also second (3:15.97).
