Eau Claire, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics team earned a 190.200 to 182.550 dual victory at UW-Eau Claire Friday night in McPhee Center. The Eagles scored 47.500 on the vault, 47.825 on the uneven parallel bars, 47.325 on the balance beam and 47.500 on the floor exercise.
UWL swept all five individual titles on Friday, including
Cate Sandvik capturing the all-around (37.600) crown. In the individual events,
Alex Wood won the vault (9.750),
Kerrie Legault the uneven parallel bars (9.750),
Kyla Dickson the balance beam (9.650) and
Rachel Chesley the floor exercise (9.675).
Along with winning the all-around title, Sandvik was second on the floor exercise (9.600), tied for fourth on the vault (9.425) and placed fifth on the uneven parallel bars (9.450).
Chesley was second on the vault (9.625) and uneven parallel bars (9.575) to go along with her win in the floor exercise. Wood was fourth on the floor exercise (9.425) .
In other top-six finishes,
Madi Vanderpool tied for third on the uneven parallel bars (9.525) and balance beam (9.500) while finishing tied for fourth on the vault (9.425).
Sara Beck tied for third (9.525) on the uneven parallel bars.
Jordan Halcom was second (9.625) and Marise Zepeda fifth (9.425) on the balance beam with
Jessica Taylor finishing third (9.525) and
Ashlyn Barker sixth (9.325) on the floor exercise.
Claudia Walter was sixth (9.300) on the ueven parallel bars.
UWL returns to action Friday, February 17 hosting UW-Whitewater at 6:30 p.m. for Senior/Parents' Night.
