Brown Deer, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team competed at the All-Wisconsin Showcase Saturday at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center. No team scores were recorded. Along with UWL, the meet featured the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, UW-Green Bay, Carthage College (Wis.), MSOE (Wis.), St. Norbert College (Wis.), UW-Oshkosh and UW-Whitewater.
In Saturday's diving, the Eagles'
Tyler Herder placed fourth in the one-meter (211.80 points) and three-meter (184.60) competition.
Aanav Patel finished eighth (165.70) and Lucas Zocher 11th (158.75) in the one-meter.
In swimming action, UWL's 200 freestyle relay of
Blake Nelson,
Jonah Elfers,
Jackson Plautz and
Connor Cleveland placed third (1:26.64) while
Jesse Hammes,
Ben Collins,
Jacob Ketterling and
Tyler Hartmann were third (1:35.85) in the 200 medley relay.
Blake Nelson
Hammes and Ketterling each recorded an individual third-place finish on Saturday with Hammes third in the 100 freestyle (48.14) and Ketterling third in the 200 I.M. (2:00.75). Hammes was also sixth (54.15) in the 100 backstroke while Ketterling tied for seventh (48.67) with
Blake Nelson in the 100 freestyle. Nelson was ninth (21.92) in the 50 freestyle and Hartmann sixth (21.82). Hartmann also placed seventh (53.59) in the 100 butterfly.
Ben Collins recorded a pair of fifth-place showings, in the 100 (1:00.34) and 200 (2:14.95) breaststroke.
Sean Gillett and
Drew Shipley each recorded a pair of top-12 finishes. Gillett placed 11th in the 200 backstroke (2:06.82) and 200 I.M. (2:06.70) while Shipley finished ninth in the 200 butterfly (2:08.71) and 11th in the 400 I.M. (4:36.65).
Caleb Jondle was seventh (4:29.17) and
Davin Evans ninth (4:34.18) in the 400 I.M. with Cleveland 10th (2:05.90) in the 200 I.M.
Jonathan Pella finished 10th (2:21.07) in the 200 breaststroke with
Sebiyam Werdin-Kennicott 12th (5:17.74) in the 500 freestyle.
UWL returns to action on Saturday, October 28 at the Cows, Colleges, and Contentment Classic in Northfield, Minnesota.
