San Jose, Calif. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics team placed third in the San Jose State University (Calif.) Triangular Sunday afternoon at Provident Credit Union Event Center. The Eagles finished with a team score of 192.650 while the host Spartans won the title with 195.150. Sacramento State University (Calif.) placed second with a score of 194.750.
UWL totaled 48.100 on the vault, 47.625 on the uneven parallel bars, 48.675 on the balance beam and 48.250 on the floor exercise. The Eagles set season-highs in overall, vault, balance beam and floor exercise.Â

UWL's overall score ranks as the fourth-highest in school history while the beam total of 48.675 is the second-highest mark. The Eagles had a school record 193.650 at the 2016 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships. The team scored 192.975 in 2017 at the Lindenwood University (Mo.) Triangular and 192.900 at the Iowa State University Quadrangular in 2016.Â
The Eagles scored a school record 48.775 on the balance beam at the 2005 NCGA Championships.Â
In individual events finishes, UWL's
Rachel Chesley placed second (9.775) on the vault while also finishing tied for 10th on the uneven parallel bars (9.700).Â

Cate Sandvik tied for second (9.825) on the floor exercise while
Jordan Halcom tied for fifth (9.850) on the balance beam. Â

Sarah Pastore tied for fifth (9.725) on the vault with
Madi Vanderpool ninth (9.600) and
Alex Wood 11th (9.550). Wood was seventh (9.725) and
Caelen Lansing tied for 11th (9.625) on the floor exercise.
Hannah Hautala tied for ninth (9.775) on the balance beam with Vanderpool and
Kyla Dickson tied for 12th (9.725).
UWL returns to action Friday, February 3 hosting UW-Oshkosh at 6:30 p.m.
