La Crosse, Wis. - Members of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team competed at the Aurora University (Ill.) Grand Prix and UW-Whitewater Squig Converse Invitational Friday.
At the Aurora (Ill.) Grand Prix at Gately Park,
Sam Blaskowski and
Chase Doornink each won individual titles on Friday. Blaskowski took the 200-meter dash (21.13) and Doornink the 400-meter dash (48.83). Blaskowski set an NCAA Division III record with his winning time of 21.13Â in the 200-meter dash. He broke the record of 21.27 set by UW-Eau Claire's Thurgood Dennis in 2014. Blaskowski also set a UWL record, breaking the time of 21.34 by Andrew Rock in 2003.
Luke Schroeder was third (22.05) in the 200-meter dash. He also qualified for the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries (8.40), but did not start in the final.Â
The Eagles had four other top-10 finishers in the 400-meter dash as
Addison Hill placed second (49.11),
Payton Flood fourth (49.50),
Luke Vance ninth (49.85) and
Caden Pearce 10th (49.86).
At the UW-Whitewater Invitational,
Nolan Seaberg leads the heptathlon with 2,789 points.
Ben Jones is in fifth (2,446),
Bryant Yanke sixth (2,361) and Joe Jensen seventh (2,207). The heptathlon included the 60-meter dash, long jump, shot put and high jump on Friday. The event concludes Saturday, January 28 with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000-meter run.
UWL won three individual events at UW-Whitewater as
Aiden Williams won the weight throw (60-9 1/2),
Ryder Smith the 60-meter dash (6.94) and
Carson Reilly the 60-meter hurdles (8.36).
In other top-six finishes in the field events on Friday,
Douglas Grace was fifth (51-0 1/4) in the weight throw while
Bryce Sitko palced second (47-9 1/4) and
Kyle Peters third (46-5 1/2) in the shot put.
Logan Larson was third (14-9),
JT Zell fourth (14-3 1/4) and
Ashton Moody fifth (14-3 1/4) in the pole vault.
Triton Schmidt finished third (22-10 3/4),
Nick Crary fifth (22-5) and
William Cady sixth (22-2 1/4) in the long jump while Crary also placed fourth (45-9) and
Brody Kluge sixth (44-11) in the triple jump.
On the track,
Spencer Reichart finished second (6.96) and
Terrance Cottrell-Roberson fifth (7.03) in th 60-meter dash while
Lukas Johnson finished second (8.65) and
Chad Thompson Jr. third (8.66) in the 60-meter hurdles.
Austin Kummett finished second (22.68),
Carter Kummet third (22.75) and Cottrell-Roberson fifth (23.05) in the 200-meter dash.
UWL returns to action Saturday, January 28 with the completion of the heptathlon in the UW-Whitewater Converse Invitational.
