La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team competed at a pair of meets Friday, sending athletes to the Drake Relays and UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative.
At the Drake Relays, UWL's
Sam Blaskowski placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 24-4 1/2. The Eagles'
Logan Larson tied for 11th in the pole vault with a mark of 15-11 1/4.
Blaskowski failed to advance in the 100-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 10.93. The Eagles' 4x100-meter relay of Sam Lee, Blaskowski,
Justin Kotarak and
Kaleb Schuster also failed to advance after a time of 42.33 in the preliminaries.
In the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative Meet, UWL's
Cameron Sorenson took the long jump title (22-8 1/2) while also placing sixth in the javelin throw (164-2). The Eagles'
Andrew Hermes was fourth in the long jump (21-11).
Other top-six finishes in the field events included
Nathan Andringa placing third in the high jump (6-4 3/4) and
JT Zell third in the pole vault (14-5 1/2).
Nick Crary was sixth in the triple jump (42-11 1/2).
On the track, UWL's 4x400-meter relay of
Payton Flood,
Sam Mrochek,
Caden Pearce and
Brett Zielke took the title (3:19.54).
Flood was second (49.46), Pearce third (49.60) and
Lucas Norland sixth (50.21) in the 400-meter hurdles.
Carson Reilly was second (14.81) in the 110-meter hurdles.
UWL returns to action Friday, May 6 hosting the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships.
