Platteville, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team won the 11-team UW-Platteville Invitational Friday night at the UW-Platteville Track and Field Complex.
The Eagles finished with 225.83 team points while UW-Eau Claire was second with 102.16 and UW-Stevens Point third with 74.50.
UWL won six individual and one relay title Friday. On the track,
Mara Schroeder captured the 400-meter dash (58.97) and
Emma Lawrence the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.25). UWL also won the 4x100-meter relay (48.72) with
Jessica Stelzner,
Haley Durst, Lawrence and
Emily Dawidowich.
In Friday's field events,
Skye Digman captured the hammer throw (175-1),
Samantha Barrett the triple jump (39-9 1/4),
Olivia Owens tied for first on the high jump (5-3 1/4) and
Gabby Johnson took the javelin throw (122-3). Digman was also third in the discus throw (136-8) and shot put (45-9 1/4).
Other top finishers on the track included
Katie Banie second (59.43),
Amber Johnson third (59.73),
Izi Knoernschild fifth (1:00.66) and
Lilly Halvorson sixth (1:00.72) in the 400-meter dash.
Melanie Kunze was second (1:05.04) and
Brooke McDowell sixth (1:07.49) in the 400-meter hurdles while Dawidowich finished second (24.90), Schroeder third (25.63) and Halvorson fourth (25.73) in the 200-meter dash.
Greta Koehler finished fifth (2:20.19) in the 800-meter run while
Emma Malooly was fifth (17:14.11) in the 5,000-meter run.
Hannah Zenkovich, Alexys Scheurell,
Allison Anderson and
Skylar White were sixth (4:14.68) in the 4x400-meter relay.
Along with Barrett winning the triple jump,
Miah Keller was second (38-4), Stelzner third (37-6 1/2) and
Maddie Hansen fifth (36-5 1/2).
Macie Todd finished third (5-1 1/4),
Allison Anderson fourth (5-1 1/4) and
Alia Vanderhoef tied for sixth (5-1 1/4) in the high jump.
Madison Page finished second (17-11 1/2),
Nicole Lord third (17-10 3/4) and
Mykenzie Vaassen fifth (17-2) in the long jump. The Eagles'
Ashley O'Connell was second (11-4 1/4),
Lindsay Ruf tied for third (10-10 1/4) and
Nina Morrison tied for sixth (10-4 1/4) in the pole vault.
Zenkovich was fourth (105-11) and
Carley Elmhorst sixth (99-9) in the javelin throw.
UWL returns to action Friday, April 22 hosting the Phil Esten Challenge at 2 p.m.
