Waverly, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team opened its 2022 outdoor season at the Wartburg College (Iowa) Select Friday night at Walston-Hoover Stadium. The Eagles placed fifth with 83 team points. Wartburg (Iowa) took the team title with 196 points. A total of 10 teams competed.
UWL won three individual titles Friday, including a pair from
Skye Digman. She captured the shot put (42-10 3/4) and discus throw (133-11). The Eagles'
Maddie Hannan took the 1,500-meter run (4:42.21).

Other top finishes in the field events included
Leah Surprenant second (154-1),
Izzy Carroll fourth (144-7),
Alayna Digman ninth (126-5) and
Sarah Hulstedt 10th (125-11) in the hammer throw. Hulstedt was fourth (38-0 3/4) and Digman sixth (37-5) in the shot put while Carroll was fifth (121-4) in the discus throw.
Gabby Johnson was third (116-9) in the javelin throw.
On the track,
Emma Malooly was second (4:42.73) in the 1,500-meter run.
Anna Ayd placed third (1:01.45) and
Ellie Jillson fifth (1:01.83) in the 400-meter dash while Ayd was fifth (27.48) and Jillson 10th (27.84) in the 200-meter dash.
UWL returns to action Saturday, April 9 hosting the Ashton May Invitational at 10:30 a.m. at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
