Eau Claire, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team wrapped up its regular season at the UW-Eau Claire Don Parker Open Saturday. No team scores were recorded. Nineteen wrestlers competed for the Eagles with seven placing in the tournament.
Tyler Goebel (149) placed second Saturday with a 4-1 record. He had one win by fall. Goebel lost the title match (4-3) to Nolan Throne of St. Cloud State University (Minn.).
Jake Mandt (149) and
Isaac Gust (174) both finished third with 5-1 records. Mandt earned three wins by major decision and took third with a fall (6:51) over Kellen Schauer of Concordia-Moorhead University (Minn.). Gust had one win by fall in the tournament. He took third with a decision (6-4) over teammate
Luke Clark. Clark (174) finished fourth with a 4-2 record, earning two wins by fall.
Jake Mandt
Kaleb O'Reilly (165) and
Marcus Orlandoni (197) each placed fourth Saturday with 4-2 records and one win by fall. O'Reilly lost by decision (9-8) to Gavin Model of the University of Wisconsin in the third-place match. Orlandoni also lost by decision (6-3) to Thomas Johnson of Minnesota State University Mankato for third-place.
The Eagles'
Remmington Bontreger (125) finished fifth with a 3-1 mark, recording two wins by fall. He won by decision (9-3) over Gabe Ragsdale of Bryant & Stratton College (Wis.) in the fifth-place match.
Along with the seven wrestlers placing, UWL's
Noah Leisgang (165) and
Logan Stafford (197) each won consolation titles. After dropping his opening match, Leisgang won five straight with three by fall. He won by fall (6:37) over Reid Lawrence of UW-Eau Claire to take the consolation crown. Stafford went 3-1 with one win by fall on Saturday, taking the consolation title with a major decision (13-0) over Carter Melton, who was wrestling unattached.
Other results included
Leo Draveling (174) finishing 3-1 with two wins by fall while
Aaron Bahr (149) and
Nolan Paar (174) each went 3-2. Bahr earned all three of his victories by fall while Paar recorded one.
Cole Hansen (157) finished 2-1 with one win by fall while
Sam Lorenz (149),
Nick Fetzner (165) and
Michael Douglas (285) all went 2-2. Lorenz had two wins by fall and Douglas one.
Wyatt Simon (174) finished 1-2 with his win by fall while Cael Weinzeig (125) and
Julian Purney (133) each went 0-2.
