WIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships (presented by Culver's)

Platteville, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track and field team placed second at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Championship (presented by Culver's) Saturday night in UW-Platteville's Williams Fieldhouse. The Eagles finished with 128.5 team points while UW-Oshkosh won the title with 172.
UW-Eau Claire placed third (110.33) followed by UW-Whitewater (104), UW-Platteville (56.67), UW-Stout (56), UW-Stevens Point (33.5) and UW-River Falls (2).
UWL had won 19 consecutive league titles. The Eagles have captured a WIAC record 45 titles (1969-70, 1972, 1975-77, 1979-88, 1990-98, 2000, 2002-20) in school history.
The Eagles won a pair of individual titles Saturday as
Sam Blaskowski captured the 200-meter dash (21.89) and
Carson Reilly the 60-meter hurdles (8.18). Blaskowski set a facility record, breaking the record of UWL's
Ross Denman of 22.12 set in 2015. Blaskowski is the first sprinter for the Eagles to win the league title in the 200-meter dash since Denman in 2015. Blaskowski was also second (6.74) in the 60-meter dash Saturday.
Reilly became the first student-athlete for the Eagles to win the 60-meter hurdles since Austin Bates in 2018.
Other top-eight finishes on the track included
Ethan Gregg third (8:22.45),
Isaac Wegner fifth (8:25.88) and
Adam Loenser seventh (8:31.26) in the 3,000-meter run.
Elias Ritzke was seventh (1:57.21) in the 800-meter run while
Spencer Reichart finished eighth (6.92) in the 60-meter dash.
UWL's 4x400-meter relay of
Sam Mrochek,
Payton Flood,
Addison Hill and
Caden Pearce placed third (3:20.32) Saturday.
In the field events,
Aiden Williams placed sixth (57-5 1/2) and
Michael Lampman seventh (57-1 1/2) in the weight throw while
William Cady finished seventh (45-11 1/4) in the triple jump.
The Eagles'
Joseph Jensen finished ninth (4,116 points) in the heptathlon.
UWL returns to action Friday, March 4 at the Wartburg College (Iowa) Qualifier at 1:30 p.m.
