La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics team won its own triangular Friday night in Mitchell Hall in the team's home finale. The Eagles finished with a team score of 190.025 while Winona State University (Minn.) was second at 185.050 and UW-Eau Claire third at 184.950.
UWL finished with a score of 47.550 on the vault, 46.950 on the uneven parallel bars, 48.150 on the balance beam (season-high), and 47.375 on the floor exercise.
Kerrie Legault took the uneven parallel bars (9.675).
UWL won all four individual titles Friday. The Eagles'
Rachel Chesley captured the vault (9.750),
Kerrie Legault the uneven parallel bars (9.675),
Emma Grant the balance beam (9.750) and
Jenna Danninger (9.575) the floor exercise.
Alex Wood placed second (9.650) and
Madi Vanderpool eighth (9.400) on the vault Friday night.
The Eagles had four of the top-five finishers on the uneven parallel bars. Along with Legault's first-place finish,
Molly Lyngaas was second (9.575), Vanderpool third (9.525) and Chesley fifth (9.425).
Audrey Kaufman tied for fourth (9.650) on the balance beam with
Cate Sandvik tied for sixth (9.625) and
Jordyn Faust finished eighth (9.575).
UWL had the top-four finishers on the floor exercise. Danninger was first while Sandvik was second (9.550), Wood third (9.500) and Grant fourth (9.425).
UWL returns to action Saturday, March 5 at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC)/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) West Regional Championships at UW-Whitewater at 4 p.m.
