Mankato, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team placed second at the Minnesota State University Mankato Mark Miller Invitational Friday in Myers Fieldhouse. The Eagles finished with 173.5 team points while host Minnesota State Mankato won the title with 249.5. A total of eight teams competed.
UWL won three individual event titles on Friday, including
Emma Lawrence in the 60-meter hurdles (8.74),
Katelyn Chadwick the mile run (5:12.50) and
Rachel Jeffers the 3,000-mete run (10:34.45). Lawrence was also fourth in the 200-meter dash (25.69).
Other top finishes included
Jessica Stelzner second (7.88),
Haley Durst third (7.92) and
Bella Seitz sixth (8.05) in the 60-meter dash while Lexi Litchy was fifth (9.23) in the 60-meter hurdles.
Carley Elmhorst was sixth (26.38) in the 200-meter dash while
Kaydee Johnson placed fourth (1:01.38) in the 400-meter dash.
Jamie Huber was sixth (2:33.81) in the 800-meter run.
Maddie Hannan placed second (2:56.64) and
Emma Malooly third (2:59.96) in the 1,000-meter run. Hannan set a school record in the 1,000-meter run, breaking the record of 2:59.37 by Kristin Krueger set in 1999.
Julia Anderson finished second in the mile run (5:18.98) Saturday.
Along with Jeffers winning the 3,000-meter run,
Maddy Vantassel was second (10:38.14), Madelynn McIntyre third (10:48.25),
Charlotte Mueller fifth (10:59.73) and
Karlie Meyer sixth (11:13.50).
UWL's 4x400-meter relay of
Mara Schroeder, Johnson,
Ellie Jillson and
Jamie Huber finished second (4:14.77).
In Friday's field events,
Skye Digman was second in the shot put (47-6 1/4) and fourth in the weight throw (56-8 3/4).
Abby Meidl placed third (11-5 3/4) and
Lindsay Ruf sixth (10-11 3/4) in the pole vault.
Olivia Owens finished third (5-5 3/4),
Macie Todd fourth (5-3 3/4) and
Alia Vanderhoef tied for fifth (5-1 3/4) in the high jump.
Miah Keller was fourth (37-3 3/4) in the triple jump.
UWL returns to action Friday, February 25 at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships (presented by Culver's) at UW-Platteville.
