Brown Deer, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's and men's swimming & diving teams completed first day action at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships (presented by Culver's) Wednesday night at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center. The Eagles' women's squad is tied for first while the men's team is in third-place.
The women's squad is tied with UW-Stevens Point with 72 points for the lead. UW-Eau Claire is third with 68, UW-Whitewater fourth with 58 and UW-Oshkosh fifth with 30. UWL is seeking its 10th straight league title.
On the men's side, UW-Stevens Point leads with 140 points while UW-Eau Claire is second with 128 and UWL third with 76. UW-Whitewater is fourth with 62 points and UW-Oshkosh fifth with 56.
In Wednesday's action, UWL won the women's 200 medley relay (1:45.93) with
Jordy Hahlen,
Lauren Steien,
Maddy Albert-Nelson and
Aubrey Lonergan. It marks the third straight conference title for UWL in the 200 medley relay.
The Eagles were third in the 800 freestyle relay (7:53.13) Wednesday with
Autumn Seebach,
Reilly Eiynck,
Brooke Presny and
Sydney Guenther.
UWL's
Tony McNiff finished fifth (375.00 points) in Wednesday's three-meter diving competition. In the relays, the Eagles'
Nicholas Litterer,
Connor Cleveland,
Ben Hendel and
Will Quackenbush placed third (6:51.62) in the 800 freestyle relay.
Brevin Kruse,
Blake Harre,
Ming Ong and
Jackson Plautz finished fourth (1:36.56) in the 200 medley relay.
