La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's and men's swimming & diving teams are set to compete in the 2022 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship (presented by Culver's) at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer, Wisconsin, February 16-19. The 50th edition of the women's championship will be held in conjunction with the 59th gathering of the men's teams.
UWL women's squad will strive for its 10th straight title.
Competition begins February 16 at 1:45 p.m., with the preliminaries of men's three-meter diving, while the finals will start at 6:30 p.m., and include a pair of relay events. For competition held February 17-18, preliminaries will begin at 10 a.m., with the finals commencing at 6:30 p.m. The final day will feature 10 a.m. preliminaries and a 6 p.m. start for the finals. Medals will be awards to the top-eight finishers in each of the individual events and the individuals comprising the top-three relay teams. 
The 2021 championships were canceled due to the COVID-19 public health threat. UWL secured the 20th league title in program archives in 2020, accumulating 812.5 points to exceed UW-Eau Claire's second-place total of 777.0 points. UW-Whitewater placed third with 603.5 points, UW-Stevens Point fourth with 599.0 and UW-Oshkosh fifth with 369.0.
UWL's 20 league championships are the most in WIAC history. UW-Eau Claire ranks second in conference history with 19 championships, while UW-Stevens Point owns six league titles. Former conference member UW-Madison secured four first-place finishes.
On the men's side, UWL has placed second at the league championships on six different occasions since 2010.
UW-Stevens Point captured the league title in 2021. The Pointers collected the 24th championship in program archives with 964.0 points. UW-Eau Claire placed second with 807 points, UW-Whitewater third with 571, UWL fourth with 407 and UW-Oshkosh fifth with 325.
UW-Stevens Point's 24 first-place finishes rank second behind UW-Eau Claire's 25 titles, while UWL has collected four team championships. Former programs to win titles include: UW-Platteville (4) and UW-Milwaukee (1).
Steve Mohs is in his third season as UWL's head coach in 2021-22. The Eagles' women's squad won its ninth straight WIAC Championship in 2019-20 under Mohs, earning six individual and three relay titles. Mohs was named the WIAC Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the league championships.
He served as an assistant swimming coach at Illinois State University in 2018-19. Prior to arriving at Illinois State, Mohs was the associate head swimming coach at the University of South Dakota in 2017-18 as the Coyotes set 19 school records. He has eight years of head coaching experience, including four (2012-16) at Saint Catherine University (Minn.) and four (2008-12) at Morningside College (Iowa).
Andrew Lum in his third year as UWL's assistant coach. Lum came to UWL after working as an assistant swimming coach at California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and as an assistant master's swimming coach for the Rose Bowl (Pasadena, Calif.) Aquatics Center from 2017-19. He was a member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Coaching Staff of the Year in 2018 while at Caltech.
Jeremiah Jackson is in his third season as UWL's diving coach in 2021-22. Prior to arriving at UWL, Jackson was the head diving coach at Saint Mary's University (Minn.) from 2005-19. He served as the boys and girls coach at Winona (Minn.) High School for 20 years.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Central Diving Regional is set for February 25-26 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships are scheduled for March 16-19 in Greensboro, North Carolina at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
