Whitewater, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team placed second at the UW-Whitewater "Squig" Converse Invitational Saturday in Williams Center. The Eagles finished with 117.0 team points while UW-Oshkosh took the team title with 161.5. UW-Whitewater was third with 108.5. A total of 11 teams competed.
UWL won a pair of individual titles Saturday with
Payton Flood taking the 400-meter dash (50.61) and
Tommy Knoche the pole vault (15-3).
Other top finishes on the track included
Carson Reilly second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.49) while
Sam Blaskowski was second in the 200-meter dash (22.51) and tied for second in the 60-meter dash (6.85).
Tyler Kisting was third in the 800-meter run (1:55.36) while UWL had three of the top-seven finishers in the 3,000-meter run as
Ethan Gregg placed fourth (8:26.05),
Isaac Wegner fifth (8:31.85) and
Michael Madoch seventh (8:37.26).
Alex Turner finished seventh in the 400-meter dash (1:59.93) while
Caden Pearce was eighth in the 200-meter dash (22.88).
The Eagles' 4x400-meter relay of
Brett Zielke,
Sam Mrochek,
Thomas Blumer and
Lucas Norland finished second (3:24.80).
In the field events,
Aiden Williams placed second (56-8) and
Michael Lampman fourth (55-5 1/2) in the weight throw while
Logan Larson finished third (14-9),
Christian Schultz fifth (14-3 1/4) and
JT Zell eighth (13-9 1/4) in the pole vault.
Andrew Hermes was fourth (22-6 1/4) in the long jump with
Chase Roehl sixth (44-8 3/4) and
Nick Crary seventh (44-4) in the triple jump. The Eagles'
Ethan Welch finished sixth (45-8 1/2) and
Kyle Peters eighth (45-0 1/2) in the shot put.
UWL returns to action Saturday, February 5 at the Minnesota State University Mankato Ted Nelson Classic at 11 a.m.
