Menomonie, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field opened its 2022 season at the UW-Stout Open Saturday afternoon in Johnson Fieldhouse. No team scores were recorded.
The Eagles won nine individual titles on Saturday, including
Skye Digman who captured the shot put (45-11 1/4) and weight throw (58-10). Other winners in the field events included
Olivia Gartner,
Macie Todd,
Annie Mitchell,
Alia Vanderhoef and
Rachel Amoth tying for first in the high jump (4-8 1/4).
Abby Meidl and
Ashley O'Connell tied for first in the pole vault (11-7 3/4).
Track winners included
Hannah Zenkovich in the 60-meter hurdles (9.11),
Haley Durst in the 60-meter dash (7.91),
Katie Banie in the 400-meter dash (59.14),
Claire Koenecke in the 800-meter run (2:19.46) and
Katelyn Chadwick in the 5,000-meter run (18:24.71).
Izzy Carroll placed second in the shot put (40-2) Saturday while
Leah Surprenant was third in the weight throw (47-11 3/4).
Samantha Barrett was second in the triple jump (37-11 3/4) and Zenkovich third in the long jump (17-10 1/4).
On the track,
Amber Johnson was second (59.87) and
Mara Schroeder third (1:00.15) in the 400-meter dash while
Kim Carviou was second in the 800-meter run (2:28.53).
Brooke McDowell was third in the 60-meter hurdles (9.27),
Jessica Stelzner third in the 60-meter dash (8.02) and
Emma Malooly third in the mile run (5:04.38).
Julia Anderson placed second (18:30.04) and
Rachel Jeffers third (18:40.66) in the 5,000-meter run.
UWL's
Ellie Jillson,
Alexys Scheuerell,
Lilly Halvorson and Banie were second in the 4x400-meter relay (4:07.69).
