Madison, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matches at Edgewood College (Wis.) Saturday afternoon in the Todd Wehr Edgedome. The Eagles earned a 3-1 (26-28, 26-24, 25-18, 25-16) win over host Edgewood (Wis.) before falling 3-2 (16-25, 25-19, 14-25, 25-20, 13-15) to over Loras College (Iowa).
UWL, receiving votes on this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 Poll, is now 14-3 on the season.
Liz Lansink had 15 block assists on Saturday.
Versus Edgewood (Wis.),
Emma Lawrence led UWL with 25 kills while hitting .283 (25-8-60).
Brianne Korducki finished with nine kills while
Sydney Fedderly,
Gabrialla Johnson, and
Liz Lansink each had six.
Megan Adams recorded 29 assists and
Jackie Oetterer 17 as the Eagles hit .185 overall.
Lawrence led four players in double figures in digs with 17. Adams finished with 16,
Sophie Quelle with 15 and
Isabelle Jensen with 11. UWL had 9.0 team blocks with
Anna Rossner finishing with eight block assists.
Amanda Carlson and Mackenzie Doherty led Edgewood (Wis.) with 10 kills while Taylor Salmon had 20 assists. The Eagles hit .123 for the match. Lea Bunch had 22 digs with Doherty finishing with 14, Salmon 11 and Abigail Hoffman 10.
In the loss to Loras (Iowa), Lawrence had a match-high 20 kills while Lansink totaled eight and Korducki seven. Adams finished with 25 assists and Oetterer 16 with UWL hitting .103 overall.
Lawrence became the 11th player in school history to record 1,000 career kills after finishing with 20 against Loras (Iowa). She has 1,019 in her career.
Isabelle Jensen had a team-high 16 digs with Lawrence finishing with 15, Quelle 14 and Adams 13. The Eagles had 13.0 team blocks with Rossner finishing with eight blocks.
Liz Fleckenstein led Loras (Iowa) with 18 kills while Lyndsi Wilgenbusch finished with 16. Sara Hoskins totaled 44 assists as the Duhawks hit. 196. Krystal Tranel led Loras (Iowa) with 23 digs while Moira Mixan finished with 18, Hoskins 17 and Flecksenstein and Sam Stoffregen 10 each.
UWL returns to action Saturday, October 2 hosting UW-Platteville at 3 p.m. in Mitchell Hall.
