La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team completed action at the second and final day of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Final Qualifier Thursday night at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. No team scores were recorded.
UWL recorded six
individual titles on the track and one in the field events on Thursday.
Emma Lawrence, named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Track Perfomer of the Meet at the league championships, swept the 100 (13.93) and 400 (1:01.66) 400-meter hurdles Thursday.
Lucy Fashingbauer
Savannah Rygiewicz took the 100-meter dash (12.00) while
Emily Dawidowich, the 2021 WIAC Newcomer of the Year, won the 200-meter dash (24.88).
Katie Banie captured the 800-meter run (2:14.30) and
Maddy Vantassel the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:27.99).
The Eagles'
Skye Digman won (184-10) the hammer throw. She broke her own school record of 179-10 set earlier this season Ashton Meet-Phil Esten Meet held at UWL.
Other top finishers on the track included
Kelly Aldrich second (12.16) and
Haley Durst third (12.22) in the 100-meter dash while
Lucy Fashingbauer was second (56.88) in the 400-meter run.
Claire Koenecke placed second (2:14.31) in the 800-meter run.
UWL's
Hannah Zenkovich was second (14.14),
Clair Shepardson fifth (14.64) and
Amanda Wiebke seventh (15.76) in the 100-meter hurdles while
Brooke McDowell placed third (1:04.67) and
Melanie Kunze fourth (1:05.26) in the 400-meter hurdles.
In Thursday's field events,
Pamela Gramer finished third (176-5),
Brianna Schyvinck fifth (167-9),
Leah Surprenant sixth (163-11) and Tori Witcraft seventh (161-3) in the hammer throw.
Gabby Johnson placed third (117-0) in the javelin throw.
UWL returns to action Thursday, May 27 at the NCAA Division lll Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina. The national championship qualifiers will be announced Friday, May 21.
