Winona, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field captured the River City Rumble Saturday afternoon at Paul Giel Field. The Eagles finished with 215.0 team points while Winona State (Minn.) placed second with 145.0 and Minnesota State third with 107.50. A total of seven teams competed.
UWL recorded five individual first-place finishes Saturday, including three in the field events.
Gabby Johnson won the javelin throw (115-11) while
Sydney Wambach won both the triple jump (37-08) and long jump (18-07 3/4).
On the track, the Eagles'
Emma Lawrence won the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.43) while relay team of
Jessica Stelzner,
Kelly Aldrich,
Savannah Rygiewicz and
Emily Dawidowich won the 4x100-meter relay (46.70).

Other top finishers on the track included
Haley Durst placing third (12.47) in the 100-meter dash and
Payton Siehr fourth (12.61) while Rygiewicz was third (25.06), Dawidowich fourth (25.16) and Aldrich fifth (25.44) in the 200-meter dash. In the 400-meter dash Lucy Fashinbauer took second (58.03) while
Katie Banie was third (58.74) and
Amber Johnson finished fourth (58.97).
UWL's
Clair Shepardson took second (14.83) in the 100-meter hurdles and
Brooke McDowell was fourth (15.13). The 4x400-meter relay team of Lawrence, Rygiewicz,
Claire Koenecke and Banie finished second (3:50.54)
In Friday's track events at the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative meet
Jenna Lovejoy placed second in the 10,000-meter run (37:21.77) while
Maddy Vantassel finished ffith (38:23.00).
In Saturday's field events
Amanda Wiebke finished second in the high jump (5-03.0) while Stelzner finished second (18-01),
Madison Page fourth (17-08 3/4) and
Nicole Lord sixth (16-11 ½) in the long jump. In the triple jump
Kylah Frederixon took fourth (37-00 ½) in the triple jump while
Kemmesha Thomas was sixth (35-11 ½).
UWL's
Lindsay Ruf placed sixth in the pole vault (10-03 ¼) while
Skylar White was third (108-6) and
Carley Elmhorst sixth (94-06) in the javelin throw.
Skye Digman would finish fourth in the discus throw (138-03) and the shot put (42-09 ¾) while
Brianna Schyvinck took fifth (42-06 ¾). Digman also placed third in the hammer throw (170-00) while
Pamela Gramer was fourth (165-01), Schyvinck fifth (164-07) and
Leah Surprenant sixth (159-00).
