Women's Track and Field Wins the May-Esten

. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team captured the Ashton May-Phil Esten Meet Saturday night at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles totaled 217.5 team points while UW-Eau Claire was second with 168.5, UW-Oshkosh third with 143.0 and UW-Stout fourth with 77.0. action shot
 
UWL recorded five individual first-place finishes in Saturday's track events. Savannah Rygiewicz won the 100-meter dash (12.05) while Katie Banie took the 200-meter dash (2:13.08). Emma Lawrence captured the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.87). 
 
The 4x100-meter relay of Aly Reuvers, Kelly Aldrich, Rygiewicz and Emily Dawidowich placed first (47.49) for UWL along with the 4x400-meter relay of Lawrence, Rygiewicz, Claire Koenecke and Banie (3:52.30).
 
Other top finishers on the track included Aldrich second (12.23) and Dawidowich third (12.33) in the 100-meter dash while Lucy Fashingbauer was second (25.72) in the 200-meter dash and Nicole Lord was fifth (26.18). Koenecke finished fourth in the 800-meter run (2:14.95) for the Eagles. 
 
UWL's Clair Shepardson placed second (14.97) in the 100-meter hurdles while Melanie Kunze was second (1:05.69) and Brooke McDowell third (1:06.12) in the 400-meter hurdles. 
 
Action ShotJessica Stelzner, Haley Durst, Lord and Fashingbauer took second in the 4x100-meter relay (48.07) for UWL while the 4x400-meter relay of Izi Knoernschild, McDowell, Kunze and Mara Schroeder also placed second 4:07.14
 
The Eagles' Hannah Zenkovich was second in the heptathlon with a school record 5,062 points. She broke the record of 4,848 points set by Erin McCauley in 2015.  Zenkovich won the 100-meter hurdles (14.37) and finish second in the shot put (35-10) and high jump (5-3) in the meet. 

Amanda Wiebke took third (4,532) and Skylar White finished fourth (4,249) in Saturday's heptathlon.
 
UWL returns to action Friday April 23 at UW-Whitewater.
